I have found Esso to be great stuff, my old Cav GSI loved the stuff. It was slower and had less torque on all other brands, Shell being the worst. I have tried vavious in the Scoob and have found Esso to be just that bit better.
All IMHO not wishing to get this board into trouble http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I had my car Link tuned on ESSO SUL...

...a couple of days later I was caught short in Devon, an SUL desert. Anyway, I eventually filled up with Shell and what a disaster - it was as if the tank had been filled up with errant kangeroos...

...never again!

I never used BP because it wasn't available locally. Then one fateful day whilst travelling to Powerstation I stopped at a motorway service which sold BP. Christ was it bad! Almost immediately it started running like a dog, and on the dyno it showed was running 0.8bar, well retarded!
Thankfully fuel economy also sucked, and had a nice new tank of Esso super in there before the day ended, started picking up again within half a tank of the good stuff!
Maybe it was just a bad delivery, but I havent used BP since.

When I ran on 95RON I only used BP (for the points!)

Now I run on 97RON BP is sometimes hard to find, so I find myself filling up with esso mainly.

Can't say I've noticed a difference myself. Both make the car go like stink http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/wink.gif

I fill up with Esso SUL 90% of the time, when I'm caught short I use Shell SUL.
Both seem adequate to me, car doesn't run sluggish or with kangaroo's under bonnet.

I try and fill up with Shell. Whenever I fill up with BP after using anyother petrol, I get lots of pops and bangs from the exhuast.

Plus I get to build on my air miles.

Shell after 14000 of fuel I have enough airmiles to get a return flight to Brighton (from London) http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/mad.gif

I use Q8 diesel in mine, and often treat it too some Save city diesel too. Is this not good for my engine then? lol

Saj, I have found Esso to be the most consistent fuel in 97 grade, its readily available in my vicinity but so is Shell and BP. I always try and map cars with Esso, not necessarily because it is better but because of the consistency, I have had some real bad tankfuls from other manufacturuers but not Esso. IMHO.
