View Full Version : 3 Axis 3g Acelerometer

I've got one currently on the Bananna, and there is one currently on route to AndyF for his new car.

Anyway I have enough bits initally to do 8 Cars.. (I can do more but will need to order parts in)

This is a 3 axis accelerometer which takes a 5v supply voltage and outputs a voltage directly proportional to G, ie 3v = 3g, 0v = -3g.

Enclosed in a plastic case with mounting lugs, and terminated in rachem type 44 wire.

These are compatible with the syvecs, and I can supply these for 80+VAT.

Any interest, questions drop me a PM.

I cant dispatch these immediatley, as I need to make the rest, and obviously out this weekend.

Hopefully Andy will verify the quality smile.gif

David

Is it just outputing a single voltage by combining the G experienced ?

Might have an interesting use for it

David Aye, they're rubbish lol ;)

Will report on receipt David, it will be interesting to see how it compares to my 'old faithful' 10 year old AP22 and 5 year old Apexi RSM, both with 2 axis G force input.

Integration with the Syvecs makes sense and I look forward to using it as my new tuning tool smile.gif

I was going to purchase a Vbox but at over 4x the price I'm not sure I need it anymore.

i've put a pic of andy's here..

Done it as a url as its 1mb and I didnt have time to install photoshop smile.gif

Might have an interesting use for it It outputs 3 seperate voltages proportional to G.

If you only want to measure 1 axis, you need 1 input, if you want to measure all three you need three inputs. HTH.

If thats what your question meant? smile.gif

My one arrived this morning, nice bit of kit :)may even have time to fit it for SSO....maybe...

David is there any calibration for installation if they are not mounted 100% true to the x,y and Z axis of the car?

Andy.F

You could calibrate within Syvecs if you know the angle but best just make a level mount for it.

What is the advantage of having one fitted and connected to the syvecs?

I assume the main use might be DCCD control, whilst you are airborne..

I like one as well, I think I have a 5v spare John?..

You have spare, but not enough for all three axis at once.

Got any of these left David?

Well i need to order more bits to make these volumes, so yes Mark, what I can't do is advise on the lead times, if there are more requests then I will look to finalise the new PCB design sooner rather than later as this will reduce the external component count smile.gif

Sample log screen shot from handling run on Sunday.

http://www.sdmotorsport.co.uk/uploads/samplegsensorlog.jpg

Peak acceleration 1.78 and deceleration of 1.496, peak lateral forces of 1.418 in one direction (right hander) and 1.624 in other direction final left hander

That data needs smoothing/filtering Steven in order to give meaningful results, its going from 1.7g to zero, back to 1.7 in milliseconds.

Drawing a line through average of the zigzags will give closer figures to the G actually pulled.

You can add a filter derivative math function within Syvecs which will smooth it out.

Cheers Andy, will look at that. Still learning the syvecs software.

The output filtering on these sensors is 50Hz if thats any help, not having a syvecs or car to hand currently I cant play either :(

Andy.F

Do you have any 1/4m G force or Syvecs rpm logs showing the shift time on the sequential box Steven?
Trying to justify it in my head :D

did you get yours stripped and ID the issue yet andy??

Just a dislocated selector finger again Alyn, gearbox is fine but can't guarantee it wont do it again and mess up another event.

pain, do you think it was more to do with potentially "over selecting" due to the stick issues or something that has happened/will happen anyhows??

Steven

Andy, yes i do ;)

Call me later
