View Full Version : Blobeye reverse bonnet vents

neil...
2nd February 2011, 10:06
I am now almost ready to produce reverse vents for blobeye Imprezas (2003-2005) running front mount intercoolers.

They are a copy of the one I made and ran on my car for the past few years.

They can be supplied in any colour GRP, Carbon, or painted in colour.

They sit flush in the existing recess in the bonnet.

I'll have some better pics later this week, but you can get an idea from these..

Final pricing is yet to be determined, but should be around the 100 mark, depending on how many I get manufactured.

They are being made by some of the people who worked on TVR's GRP bodywork, so quality is assured, and guaranteed.

I wouldn't sell anything I wouldn't use on my own cars.

Any questions please feel free to post or PM.

Cheers, Neil.

When it rains, does that style vent allow a lot of water in to the engine bay?

Just I keep my car outside all the time.

Cheers

Neil can you do these for the pre-facelift classic if so I will def have one.

neil...
3rd February 2011, 08:32
Archie, I have fitted one of these into a sport bonnet very easily with a bit of cutting to the bonnet, so fitting one to a pre-facelift wouldn't be too difficult..

Although, I'm pretty sure that you can already get them from ets racing IIRC.

The mould has been made off my vent, off my car today, so they will be made.

Not sure what the timescale will be, but hope to have some ready within the next fortnight.

As soon as I've determined the price I will update, but I'm trying to keep GRP around 100, carbon 150.

GRP ones are now in production, Carbon ones awaiting first prototype.

These vents sit nice and flush in the bonnet in the original recess.
Prices will be finalised later today.

Gd stuff. Is there much difference in weigh between either??

neil...
10th February 2011, 21:42
I don't know to be honest, but suspect not.

The carbon ones are produced in the same way, but with carbon weave instead of glass matting. I am awaiting the first carbon one to see the quality of them first before I offer them for sale.

Right now I'm thinking prices will be:-

GRP 100.00 delivered
GRP painted in colour 140.00 delivered
Carbon ? Not sure yet

Anybody seriously interested on GRP ones please let me know as they are now available.

Carbon ones, I'll keep this thread up to date as soon as I know.

Neil,

I will have a GRP please, and sprayed in "ice blue" WR1 colour. Let me know mechanics of delivery and payment by PM if it is easier.

OK chaps, update.

Initially I am concentrating on the GRP versions of these, either painted or bare.

Could anyone seriously interested please confirm on a list below, and those who want them painting please provide a colour code.

I will be requiring a deposit of 25.00 early next week, which can be paid for via paypal, or bank transfer.

Cheers, Neil.

I'm concentrating on getting the first batch of GRP ones sorted first Matt, so don't hold your breath for a Carbon one just yet.

RCM is your only choice right now, at more than twice the price IIRC.

As you can see they are effectively single skin (although they are 3 layer of GRP). I myself have fitted one into a Sport bonnet very easily.

I have also looked into fitting one to a pre-facelift bonnet. A bit of trimming and it is do-able.

The new design is a double skinned affair, whereby the fitting bolts are separate to the outer skin/ vent.

I am only going to take orders when I am 100% happy with them.

No carbon I'm afraid Matt.
