there's one then, lol :D

it's through www.j-w-racing.co.uk (http://www.j-w-racing.co.uk) and if we get 10-20 gauges ordered we'll get 15% discount.

suggest you speak direct to SPA, I had to buy mine direct due to useless suppliers.. was being quoted lead times of weeks.. spa made it that day and sent it next day for me smile.gif

In order of preference I'd like to get hold of:

Oil Temp/Pressure
Boost Pressure/EGT
Temp/Temp

just spoken to jamie and he has no trouble getting the gauges from SPA at all smile.gif

Simon_

but would it not be cheaper to go direct???

drb5=Dave McD
28th June 2004, 11:47
tbh it isn't. have a look and you'll see the price is the same....besides i conntacted them at first and never got a reply :rolleyes:

price might be the same, but speak to them via the phone.. very helpfull. they had some interesting things to say about dealers..

I have had dealings with some suppliers, and I refuse to order online, when I am speaking to them on the phone at the current moment...

Jamie may have no problems getting from spa.. in my experience though he has major problems in delivering what he promises on time.

Just my two pence.

SPA is definitely good on the phone. Quick, informative & interested - if anything, a little over-interested in what their kit's being used for (I had some trouble extracting myself from the conversation - can't see how you got away at all, David :D )

well unfortunately, i may have made a mistake there, but i did try to contact them. what's the pc for if you can't email peeps(or browse for porn ;) ), so because i've started with jamie, i'll finish it with jamie. can't go back on my word, just not like that i'm afraid. if the deals aren't good enough, then you don't put your name down. not critisizing anyone for pointing out buying direct for SPA, but i asked jamie after asking SPA and he replied, so....

anyway, if your interested please put your name down on here... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?p=3478577#post3478577
and ye shall be rewarded ;) tell's you closing date and how many peeps we've got so far

Dont get me wrong, I have also had amazing service from JW Racing which is why I chose to buy from them before I saw this buy. I was just saying SPA are also very good.
Left details on link. Surely its the number of gauges thats critical rather than no of peeps ?!! smile.gif

defo, but i have to see if we can get enough peeps first. i suppose you could put down next to your name what gauge it is you want? :D

SPEN555

I could be interested in this.
I would want;

DG201B Oil Pressure/Oil Temperature Black Dial x1

DG211B Boost / EGT Kit Black Dial x1

DG210B Temperature / Temperature Black Dial x1
Am I able to use this to measure temperature before and after intercooler and if so which parts if any do I need from below?

As stated by other posters above I need to know if I need to be ordering any of the parts below. I would want to be able to take the whole lot and fit it in one go without the need to be finding out that I need additional parts.

Taken from SPA website;
PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION
DTA 201-FL Thermocouple adapter box 0-255 Deg C
DTA 201-E-FL Thermocouple adapter box 0-1000 Deg C
DTP 202 K type thermocouple probe 0-255 Deg C
DTP 202-E K type thermocouple probe 0-1000 Deg C

PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION
DTA 201-E-FL Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) 0-1000 Deg C Adapter Box
DTP 202-E Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) 0-1000 Deg C Stainless Probe
DTA 201-FL Intercooler Temperature 0-255 Deg C Adapter Box
DTP 202 Intercooler Temperature 0-255 Deg C Probe
DTA 201-FL Water Injection System 0-255 Deg C Adapter Box
DTP 202-E Water Injection System 0-1000 Deg C Stainless Probe

Simon I might be wrong..

If you want something different then you might need to order them separately?

temp/temp requires extras.

Simon,

Thanks for size on gauges.

Reason I ask r.e. sensors etc is gauge description;

DG210B Temperature / Temperature Black Dial x1

very description is very vague and I would read this as a gauge to take temp readings of whatever you like. In which case how can they supply the sensors if they don't know your application?

I found an old post by Harvey (hope he does not mind me posting here) as he got probes and sensors more suitable from RS components;

"The gland and probe is not the one best suited to your needs. You want RS Components Gland 158-610 and probe 228-7489. Locate probe in up-pipe for best results with the smallest amount of probe sticking into gas stream. Alternatively in the down-pipe and accept it will under read and be a little less reactive."

This leads me to believe it is not as straight forward as a straight fit with parts supplied.

I remember my last scoob with the autometer gauges, BSP to NPT and all that mallarky. :D Machined sump bung to take temperature sensor. :D
Thankfully I had Chiark's website to follow and get all the pieces together in order to do it correctly. :D

Thanks,

So are we saying that

temp/temp and egt need to buy sensors and oil pressure and temp might need adaptors but come with the sensors??

the rest come with the required sensors??

rs arent the best place to buy from..

www.tcdirect.co.uk (http://www.tcdirect.co.uk) or .com..

You can get two types of thermocouple, insulated and non insulated, If IIRC you need the non insulated for the spa gauges..

SPA are very helpfull on these matters and actually know what they are talking about smile.gif

best to have a chat with them.

Just becuase something works for one person doesnt mean its suitable for everyone..

I think I use 3mm thermocouples in my up-pipes smile.gif

For potentially a little bit of useful info...
I've got boost/EGT & oil temp/pressure.
The oil ones went straight in with no fiddling - straight fir IIRC. Although I went into the gallery for the temp, and I have a smidgen of a feeling I may have used a converter for up there? I can't remember the size of thread in the gallery I'm afraid smile.gif
Boost: initially used an ordinary 'boost gauge fitting kit' which I had bought for a previous bit of kit from somewhere for about 4... but depending on your manifold, I think it can be bolted straight on? I use it as a fuel pressure gauge now, and it that was a direct fit smile.gif .
EGT - I needed to buy an additional box (E25 rings a very small bell indeed - but I know it's important to get the correct range!) for the thermocouple converter deely; then of course the EGT probe itself...

Thinking about it, it is actually quite confusing smile.gif .

if your still thinking about getting the gauges but wanted the thermocouples instead, jamie will do the same discount on them and any pods you want too ;)

Simon_
8th July 2004, 09:32
Any progress??

Sold a couple of bits so after two sooner rather than later..

just not 100% sure which two yet..

Simon :D

drb5=Dave McD
8th July 2004, 11:14
like i said before dood, if you want the thermocouples, they are extra, but he'll do them at 15% discount too if your buying the gauges ;) all accessories come with the gauges that are needed to fit them to the car and work, so it's justa question of, if your wanting a bit more........exact showning, i think :confused: ?

Simon_
8th July 2004, 11:15
errrmmm nope I just want two gauges with the standard sensors..

Do you have enough gauges for the group buy to go ahead?

Simon

drb5=Dave McD
8th July 2004, 11:39
no probs :D i think even if we're just shy of the 10 needed, the gb will still go ahead as other parts will be bought also and not just by myself smile.gif

drb5=Dave McD
8th July 2004, 11:42
simon

if your after 2 gauges then all we need is another 1 to get to 10, but if you can post your name up on here....
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?p=3478577#post3478577

then i can see exactly what all we need for the gb to go through ;) closing date is on that thread too smile.gif

Well I need two gauges as well...so if I add my name to the list no s'net does that mean the order will get processed any sooner? I need the gauges ASAP basically in time for TOTB

drb5=Dave McD
8th July 2004, 20:29
well the last day of the group buy is the 16th of this month, so if thats before the TOTB, then yes, i suppose so :D
