View Full Version : mikalor clamp gb

4th June 2004, 11:45
just been contacted by a supplier offering cheap mikalor clamps.. pricing will work out better than anywhere I had found (demon / n4speed etc)

Let me know what sizes are required..

possibly will need around a minimum of 100 (dont know if this is of each size or in total as yet)

sizes are pretty precise ie 63- 68 wont do 72mm.

The Supra clamp uses 430 stainless steel with zinc plated high tensile bolt and thread locks.

http://www.wallis2000.co.uk/uploads/mikalor.jpg

Let me know what sizes and quantity you may be interested in..

Im possibly interested in
4x 79 - 85
and 8 or 10x 63-68

I think you may need the 69-73 if it's for samco on to the 2.5" pipe.

8-10 x 69-73
2 x 73-79

all zinc bolts unless the stainless bolt versions are well priced.

I want some, but I've yet to get any pipes for the new intercooler and turbo so haven't a clue what sizes I need :(

Adamantium

I'll tkae whatever pat has used to fit his intercooler.

will talk to him about it.

David_Wallis
4th June 2004, 14:16
well you dont have long..

I reckon for marks intercooler / turbo you will need 10 - 16

David

I am in exactly the same boat as tim, and the only person who has fitted according to my plans is pat.

I am not too worried about the numbers, its the sizes I am concerned about.

well perhaps you could ring pat and get some numbers so we can get things moving.

Paul@Zen
4th June 2004, 16:33
hmmm.

Turbo to samco then samco to hard pipe = 2

Hard pipe1 to samco then samco to ICin = 2

ICout to samco then samco to hardpipe2 = 2

Hardpipe2 to samco then samco to TB = 2

SO I make that 8 in total for a LP intercooler kit assuming there are no joines in the hard pipes, in which case add 2 clips per soft join.

I think the turbo and IC uses 2.5" tube which use the 69-73, std throttle body is 73-79. Only choice is whether to go for a 2.5" pipe and reducing elbow to TB or 3"pipe and reduce at IC. In fact, is one IC tube a 3" one?

SO at best guess a LP kit would need:

7 off 69-73
1 off 73-79

Good enough to give idea of numbers.

I just wanted to point out that the "in", and "out" on the LP intercooler are 70mm, so I would expect the 73-79mm to be better here.

Mark.

Slooby
4th June 2004, 19:04
So more like:

3 off 69-73
5 off 73-79

For the LP kit then?

Bugger, was just talking to Pat as well

Being a tight git, even though these are better, I think I'll stick with my really expensive ;) SS jubilee clips.

Cord
4th June 2004, 19:45
Prices? And any idea how long?

I am in the process of buying

10off 63-68
2off 73-79

but will group buy if they can be got soon ish.

David_Wallis

fairly sure they can be soon.

Slooby

Looked at Pat's car last night, and will have another look tonight, his set up requires 10 clamps from memory.

I check again but it does look like for the LP kit as Pat has it we would need:

5 off 69-73
5 off 73-79

Adamantium
8th June 2004, 10:02
I have just copied pats set up and have bought the samco.

So for anyone who wants to know what is required with his set up, in terms of samco ends which need gripping,

7 ends at 70mm and 5 ends at 63mm

I presume this is internal diameters so it is probably (going from tim's above)

5 * 69-73
7 * 73-79

count me in for this order please.

Slooby
8th June 2004, 22:17
Right, so I'll need the same bits then so count me in for a set the same as Adam :D

if youve running the lateral lateral kit then the same as adam, if bodging a small turbo on then just use jubilee's on that bit.

as im not reversing manifold
when are you ordering as my engine and new turbo are going back in soon

Asap Mikee.. measure your pipes and work out what you want.. you dont need an engine fitted to do that..

David

must point out the sizes and numbers I have chosen are for pat's pipework arrangement on the lateral intercooler when reversing the manifold.

The hard pipes were supplied to me by pat and are hayward and scott tubing, and the samco was ordered from demon (apart from the annoying missing one!).

Dont get me f'ing started about online banking.

I have just had a 10 minute rant at a senior bank official over it.

I owed my dad 5k, and he needed it back by friday.

I couldnt do the tranfer on thursday, limit 2k transfer!, so rang bank and no one would deal with a telephone request. So rang the guy i know with some power.

He didnt ring me back until Tuesday, when i was out, i look at the bank now, and dad went over drawn, they bounced 3 things and charged him 3 x 30 for doing so. 1 being a tranfer between his business account and personal account ffs, eld at same branch and under same control.

Anyway, charges now refunded, but now have to explain to mum and dad what happened.

Cross aint the word!

Hes had a 20k unsecured overdraft for years, hardly ever used it, semi retires, they remove limit which i didnt know about, and suddenly shaft him for charges.

aarrrrgghhh........ barstewards

So do i :D

The bounced check for 12k was the funniest, when there was over 30k in the bank, and they bounced it due to mum signing the cheque, as "she wasnt on the mandate"

I enquired as to what the signature looked like, explained it was mum, told me she wasnt on the mandate, so bounced it. I asked who they had on the mandate, just my Dad.

I told them that was rubbish, as when the account was opened 3 people could sign, my dad, my mum and me, and i am the primary contact.

Nope you are wrong Mr Darley, it is just your father that has authority!

Slight pause by me.

Can i ask you to check your records again please, as we obviously have 1 of 2 problems here.

1. I can probably count on one hand the number of cheques my dad has signed So if my mum or i cant sign, then you have a problem in that you have probably let through over 600 cheques signed by an unauthoruised signatory.

2. You have bounced a cheque without good cause, and consequently embarrassed my father by doing so.

Which do you think i sound confident you have done?

Would you care to check the signatory on the other 3 cheques that have cleared today (now looking online whilst speaking with them) and tell me why they have not bounced?

They are also signed by your mother.

So why havent they bounced?

We dont look at small cheques!

Great! May i suggest you ring me back, let the cheque clear, and decide how you will apologise, after you find out what has happened.

In transferring the mandates to computer, they only scanned my dads!! This happened fairly recently.

They do make me laugh smile.gif

Banks!!

Ring up and ask to do something similar and get told I am not registered for telephone banking..
Well how come I have been doing similar for the last 6years over the phone.. oh no that was Business Telephone banking.. whose sole responsible for the business account.. you are sir, who is sole responsible for the personnal accounts.. you are sir.. so what friggin difference does it make??
No I have to write to them and then I can do it..

Also amusing you deal with their finances but then I suppose you can be trusted ;)

David,

I never got around to talking to Mark so if the sizes suit me I might buy some off you? assuming you are unable to modify something.

Re-cheques.. I once had the bank ring me and say "Hi I just need to confirm the cheque number xxx is all correct for 100,000 from you business account".. long pause as I got back off the floor..

confirm?? the only cheques I have written out are less than that.. bla bla.. turns out someone had added an extra zero when typing it in and it had then been flagged as greater than a certain amount so this guy that confirms they are correct with the customer over a certain value therefore rang me..

He then said "Will you confirm it anyway to make my paper work easier"

No I bloody won't..
