View Full Version : 3 Month Itch

Had the 911 Turbo 3 months now, and last week started getting itchy.

When I was 17 I bought a scooby, in WHITE, everyone else was buying blue or black so I promised myself never to buy a white car again.

I think I'm going to have to brake that promise now, as the car I'm after is only available in white!

Wont know for sure till tomorrow if I'm going to do a deal though.... tongue.gif

Simon_

no you didn't I just thought that was the only car I know of in white only that would fit in with your previous cars etc..

I couldn't see you in a 106 Rallye.. lol

Just found out itís the press car, from porsche GB.

Clarkson and the stig has driven it!

But then porsche GB have prepped it ready for sale.

So i've got a car clakson has driven!

I guess thats to be expected, and porsche have prepped it back, and it is under warranty.

Do you reckon I should still buy it?

Simon_
26th January 2006, 12:04
You really think they would have driven it any worse than you will? lol

It will be used to it..

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 12:07
Good Good

26th January 2006, 12:17
I'd avoid it like the plague...remember the problems that Cem had with his? If not go over to Stuttgart9s (http://www.stuttgart9.co.uk/upload/index.php) and ask them there

Simon_
26th January 2006, 12:18
What problems did Cem have?

Slooby
26th January 2006, 12:20
Sorry I can't divulge the information publicly...

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 12:25
Yeah I know about all his problems, can't be any worse than my old turbo that blew up smile.gif

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 12:25
Price is very tempting, and I need to scratch my itch :D :D

It's a better track car, not a better road car than the Turbo IMHO

It's much more twitchy and noisey...I'd love it then...but only as a second car, very much like the CSL in many ways ;)

Personally I'd be taking the Turbo along to my local dealer and asking about upgrading it to the S package...or along to Ruf, 911ff etc :D

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 12:38
yeah Turbo is about ahead of me, at 25 I need more loadness and stickers and spoilers smile.gif

Will buy a turbo in about 10 years time ;)

Dealer has just made the deal even better aswell, it would almost be rude not to!

Slooby
26th January 2006, 12:41
I'd want some cast iron assurances about the engine, gearbox, suspension etc...maybe even a dyno plot from a rolling road of your choosing (G-Force for example - they have pleanty of experience with Porsche's after all, and having a Dyno Dynamics RR too will be stingy) ensure that it is performing as it should

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 12:42
Good thinking

Slooby
26th January 2006, 12:45
You have to ask yourself, if they're so keen to shift it, what's wrong with it?

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 13:35
oops I know own it. ;)

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 13:35
Wernt 'keen' to shift it, just a good deal really. It's from an official OPC with full Porsche warranty.

Shame it's not the blue one...

;)

BTW, do you get a copy of all the footage taken by TG when they drove it so you can see how it was treated?

And did you get them to agree about the RR idea?

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 14:04
Will try and find some footage, from memory it was power slid a few times :D

Slooby

Right, now the vid has downloaded (all 90 meg in 4.5 hours!) and I see the car did a bit of offraoding in Stigie boy's hands  I wonder how much it did off camera...

drb5=Dave McD
26th January 2006, 19:40
Na quite right man. I would prolly get one too if i could afford it. :D

Tell us just how hard to drive it is. Sussy, seats, etc?

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 19:41
It loves offroading, I think Stigie used it as a lawn mower :D

I've got the OPC to write me a letter saying whatever breaks in year 1 will be covered.

Will probably only keep the car 3 weeks anyway ;)

jameswrx
26th January 2006, 19:59
Blimey Tim, try and make the guy feel good about his new purchase :D

What does it matter when he has the porsche warranty? I'd say it's a nice conversation piece myself :D

I love it when people get new cars all the time, gives me something to drool over.

You're like the new Cem :D

That sounds more like it

Now, got give it death and get everything replaced with new ;)

BTW does it have the PCC brakes or regular steelies?

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 20:48
Regular jobs, I think I might replace them with some floating discs.

Slooby
26th January 2006, 21:05
I'd only bother with floating if their the new AP jobbies, otherwise you'll need to keep stripping them down to remove the crud build up which will stop them floating IYSWIM as people used to find with the old Scoobysport floating discs

Looks just like mine! You will love it, be careful in the wet ,400bhp at the rear can be a handful if your used to 4 wheel drive. Call Parr or JZ Machtech to sort the suspension to you likeing i.e. 25 % track 75% road or any combination. Non rattle Alcon steel brakes from JZ have been perfected as a replacement combined with Padgit rs29 pads. You will crack the disks within the first couple of trackdays I'm afraid. Ride height can be a problem front splitters and road humps dont mix too well. Have fun

Paul, I had rs29's on my 22b when I replaced front brakes with 6 pot AP's (bespoke design). I use to track it quite a bit.
