welcome to the cosworth section

I have owned and run a 2WD sapphire cosworth with 350BHP engine as my road car for 2 years.

I am also the mechanic on one of the top Group A 4x4 cosworth forest rally cars run in the BTRDA silver star championship. We have developed this car over 4 years into a full spec high compression engined car with mag suspension, 50/50 split, 50MM struts etc. Best result to date is 2nd overall on the dukeries rally in 1999 and leading the BTRDA championship for half of 1999 season.

i look forward to reading your posts http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I'm going to be buying a 3 door. I want to know what a genuine 400bhp feels like!!

Might be a bit slow around Cadwell but should be interesting at Donington! http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi guys, love the new BBS!

Benny, how much are you looking to pay ? We own a scooby sti4 but couldn't resist buying another car when we came across an immaculate '93 escort cossie sitting in the dealers for silly money...test drove and bought it that same day http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif

The stock performance is nothing like the STi but its got serious potential..325hp by fitting a baby board/fuel pump/uprated injectors/groupA gasket...which should bring it closer to the scooby in terms of straight line performance.

Getting much more looks in the cossie http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi Mark

I know of a really nice 3 door that is currently running 330bhp but has all the necessaries to run 400bhp except injectors, fuel pump I think and a few other bits and pieces.

The car belongs to a customer of M.A.Developments and Mark did the work on the car. He estimated another 1000 to reach 400bhp.

I would like an Escort but cannot justify the expense and actually quite like the idea of driving in a BTCC replica!!

It will be for track days and Sundays only and so shall be a lot of fun.

Reckon on Autumn time.

I can confirm that a 400bhp Cossie is still not as quick round Donno as a Scoob! http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/wink.gif

I think you should rephrase that to "Mike was not as quick round Donington as me, 'cos it was his first time on the track... http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/wink.gif"

Good point Mike! A 400bhp Cossie WILL be quicker around Donington but Cadwell will just be a load of fun and completely inappropriate for the car!! http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif

Something of interest is that I have been watching 3hours of the 1990 BTCC. The RS500s were running between 500 and 550bhp and the M3s 320 or so.

When comparing the 2 from in car, the BMWs were so much better sorted than the Fords throught the corners but the straights were the difference. HOWEVER, on a straight the Cossie would only pull maybe 1 and a half car lengths on the Bob Marleys.

So, I reckon I would beat you Stef at Donington in a 400bhp Sierra but it would be barely anything in it due to a second a lap only meaning a few yards!! http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/wink.gif

Ha Ha!! Gauntlet down!
