As you know dates for the ring havn't even been given out yet, so I'm not planning anyhting yet, however...

Personally last year I found the track on weekends and bank holidays much too busy. Even the carparks were rammed, so this year I'm avoiding all school and public holidays.

I appreciate for some of you that might mean problems, but if you just fancy going for an easter weekend will probably be easier just to go on your own accord anyway.

This year I will probably do a few trips, but some dates I currently have in my head are mid July.

This avoids all school and bank holidays.

I'm probably going out on Friday 7th July, and returning on Sunday 16th July.

Nothing planned yet though, but what are your views on trying less busy times this year?

Is that a yes less busy times would be best for me or a no I prefer to go on bank holiday weekends?

NeVeTaS

We would be there at weekends, just not bank holiday weekends.

Floyd
13th January 2006, 21:50
IMO, any w/e will be busy. if it were me I'd plan a long w/e from Sat to Tue (go and return days) so that you get a traffic free Mon. Makes much more sense.

I am hoping to go some time this year but as usual I was about to say next year but next year is here already! money and time dependent but wouldn't be for as long as a week for myself..
Would be good to hook up either on way out of way back and whilst out there etc..

Fortunately I know the boss very well, so I should be able to negotiate some time off in the week to do this, and make a more relaxed time of it.

Simon, i would prob be up for driving over with you if you wouldnt be going for the whole hog.
My car is no longer suitable for this kind of thing but i would love to experience it.

My aim is to go sometime in April or early May, but may go later in the year if more are going.

I aint taking the MG this time (although can highly recommend it to anyone going for their first time).

Rob G
14th January 2006, 19:41
I did consider taking the MG instead of the skyline due to its piss poor brakes and dodgy powerband. But i need to keep up with everyone else :D

OK seems most people are liking the idea of less busy periods.

Going out on a Saturday seems the best bet, get your eye in Sunday, then Monday, Tuesday etc as proper lap time.

ScoobyDuck
14th January 2006, 23:04
would be up for passengering over as well - not sure the endfloat would last a lap ;) tongue.gif

roll on the diesels ;)

NeVeTaS

Some april dates, assuming track is open.

Leave on Saturday Monrning 22nd April.

Then return? How many days on track is enough?

Simon_
15th January 2006, 22:15
April / May would be on the current tired engine.. on the one hand finishing it off would be better than killing a low mileage perfect engine.. but a bit of a pain getting the car and myself home.

Although got me thinking... ;)

Simon

NeVeTaS
15th January 2006, 23:14
GOing out on the 22nd April avoids all UK and German holidays, so assuming track is open should be quite.

How many days of track would people like?

ScoobyDuck
16th January 2006, 14:06
3? gives enough chance for a good day if wx is bad, and plenty of time for lots of circuits?

although dont ask me , as i'm not driving tongue.gif

Simon_
16th January 2006, 14:59
I was thinking 1 or 2 but after going all that way may be a couple more days is a good idea..

I need to look into this more seriously.

Simon

GO out Saturday

Sunday - few gentle laps to test things out

Monday - Track

Tuesday - Track

Wednesday - Morning Track, Afternoon Home

Or would you prefer home on the tuesday?

did 3 trips last year, 60 or so driven laps & 80+ passenger laps and stil lwanted more :D

This year I am resigned to 1 (maybe 2 trips) August earliest as the misses is expecting in April so got to be good for a few months (might have to do a few uk track days to keep my eye in :D )

If you all go before me please do not post how good it will be / it was as will be most upset :(

it's highly unlikely you will get a mon/tues/wed track open to the public for full days, you need to wait for the new callendar before plotting a plan as most weekdays are taken up with private testing and will probably be even more so this year.

All of this in purely in theory, just testing out how many days people want to spend on track.

Nothing will happen until dates come out.

I will be up for this ...but would prefer early may to late april.

need...dates....soon....

NeVeTaS
17th January 2006, 14:54
April and May is very busy with other events going on at the ring. There are only really 3 dates available where it might be quite. Of course the dates are still worthless untill official stuff is out, however it's a guide...

Go out on 22nd April

Go out on 29th April

Go out on 20th May

All over times in April and May have an event, sure it may only be on the GP circuit but that still makes things busy in general.

NeVeTaS
17th January 2006, 14:56
Once the dates are out I can comfirm, but the above dates are the only 3 in April and May that are free from Public Holidays, School Holidays, german Holidays, and Ring Events.

Zoidberg
17th January 2006, 20:25
I could do any of those dates I think, so please keep updated. Would be more than likely three cars from Jersey, myself in my skyline, a scooby and an evo.

NeVeTaS
17th January 2006, 23:29
OK will post more once the official dates are out.

NeVeTaS
18th January 2006, 12:03
The Dates Below are times when the Ring would be very quite. June is constantly busy with events. August is also busy, and school will be on holiday.

So when the timetable is out, I will try and get these dates:

Go out on 22nd April (The date Im going out assuming track open)

Go out on 20th May

Go out on 8th July (Long Shot)

Go out on 9th September

Go out on 14th October (Last Trip Of Year)

Go out on 29th July (If all else fails)

Go out on 19th August (If all else fails)

So those are my 'best' dates, if I can tie any of those in with the track being open we are onto a winner. Will just have to wait now....

Dificult, because i cant see May's

Not much opportunity other than easter is there, or am i miss reading it?

Easter is indeed the most track open days, but would be a nightmare.

Tricky one....

Seems for april atleast it would only be easter?

Would you still want to go out at such a busy time?

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 19:37
Apart from Easter the only other possible would be.

Go out on thursday 30th March

Friday on track 2:15 - 7:00
Saturday on track 3:15 - 7:30
Sunday on track 8:00 - 7:30
Monday on track 13:00 - 7:30

Then Home.

So it's either that or easter. Over to you.

NeVeTaS
26th January 2006, 23:48
Option B

How about going on a NON public day?

An official track day, no bikers, no coaches, limited places.

http://www.rma-limited.com/diary.php

Thoughts on that?

OK it's not cheap, but practically get the track to yourself and can do as many laps as you like. No queueing, no car park hassles, no worrying about bikers.

Steve May days dont look any better to be honest.

Only full time is 35th onwards, which is a German Public Holiday.

TO be honest the only way you are going to get it very quick is on a private track day. :( :(

NeVeTaS

Right then, Im ganna do this.

Anyone care to join me? :D

Go out on thursday 30th March

Friday on track 2:15 - 7:00
Saturday on track 3:15 - 7:30
Sunday on track 8:00 - 7:30
Monday on track 13:00 - 7:30

Well I think thats the only choice to go, if people like it not too busy.

I'm open to suggestions for other dates, but I've studied them for an hour and can't find a better time apart from a closed track day.

So all things point to 30th March.

Unless someone has another idea?

just as i thought! but adds to the whole experience I guess!

How much do you estimate it to cost per vehicle?

NeVeTaS

80 train

50 EUROS a night accom

then you need Fuel

food and beer.

I can still arrange a trip for easter if people want to go, but be prepared to have to wait an hour just to get off track. And get door dinged in the carpark smile.gif

Zoidberg

A) I want to track to myself, I know there wont be as many days open but atleast it wont be busy.

B) I want to go at Easter, the track will be open much more and I want to queue 3 hours just to get a coffee.

A or B please... :D

Ive decided on May Day instead, yes OK it might be busy but it really is the best date out of a bad lot!

Anyway going to lock this now and start an official thread.
