By the way, there are other dates availble in August, however not weekends. So if you wanted to go later in the month would have to include weekdays.

As you know ring is busy on the weekends, so if you wanted it quiter end of August is better but will involve weekdays.

Up to you Paul, I don't mind either way.

I'll be working that weekend :(

at the Nurburgring. :D

It's the same weekend as one of the rounds we run the Can Am cars in the Orwell Supersports Cup, so you can combine driving on the Northern Loop with some spectating of some of the quickest race cars there are.

If you guys would like a close look at the cars in the pits i'll be happy to show you round.

Paul@Zen
10th June 2005, 23:42
yes please!

plus I would be interested to see what you think of the car with the new diffs, engine, suspension, tyres, ECU etc etc ;)

johnfelstead
10th June 2005, 23:59
Sounds like a top weekend then Paul, it should be very impresive with all the changes. I will probably be tied up all Sat/Sun with the qualifying and races, car prep etc. but Monday should be OK for me to have a drive if that's OK with you.

Paul would you like a single, double or twin room?

Steve

P.S. These could be a good idea, much better than PMR446 jobbies.

you might want to check, some PMR's arent legal abroad, IE they arent / may not be exempt from requiring licences.

Not that it may bother you.. Also the lower the frequency the better if your planning on getting lost.. IE around the 2m / 144mhz ;) band is better :D

Will you guy's be going again later on in the year? Maybe a bit soon for me, but for curiosity, how much per night is that Hotel....if there's any spaces left?

NeVeTaS
21st June 2005, 21:50
This is really going to be last big one for me.

This will be the biggest best trip of the year, so I advise you get your name down for this one.

Yes Hotel still has a few rooms left, it's 60EUROS per night including breakfast.

So if 2 people share a twin room, thats 30EUROS a night each (about £22 a night).

The beer is cheap as chips. :D :D

OK, back to the subject of radio's.

I've spoken to a company local to me that can provide these, and they will be legal for European use.

They are Motorola CP 040 Radio's.

http://www.wdv.nl/uk/image/cp040_big.gif

These work better than PMR446 (IMO) and will save on our mobile phone bills (especially when in Europe).

If you would like a radio, the cost is £10 per radio, let me know and I'll add your name to the list.

OK just had the official word from Ben:-

No worries - the Oldtimer GP itself is on the GP track. There are usually some Nordschleife closures to allow parade laps, etc, and there will be more oil on the circuit than usual, but mostly it will be open.

On the plus side, you will get to see (and sometimes share the track
with) some lovely old cars.

There was a clue in my first post on this thread steve. ;) tongue.gif :D

Been on the phone to the hotel, having some slight issues getting us in.

However called him back after he rang round all the other hotels in the area.

He has managed to get some of us in with him, and a few others down the road, with us all having breakfast at his.

I wasn't able to actually book this, we were struggling at this stage with the german / english, however he basically said just turn up and I'm sure we'll get you all bedded somehow :D :D

So, should be a good laugh, we'll probably all be in the 1 room :D :D :D

drb5=Dave McD
2nd July 2005, 10:24
LOL.

Here's a question for ya.

I've been told you can't video tape the Ring, from like a camera inside the car or whatever, that true?

NeVeTaS
2nd July 2005, 10:29
Well Yes.

Basically video footage of people getting injured / killed was making it's way onto the net.

People still hide camera's, and put in bullet cam's etc etc but I wouldn't do it myself.

Depends how badly you want to film a lap I guess.

drb5=Dave McD
2nd July 2005, 11:21
Ok. Not worth the chance really.

Bad enough, is taking the chance on the zorst. :D

Floyd
2nd July 2005, 14:02
I want to film myself, also when I'm on the Ring ;) :D

OK When you exit the tunnel, about 5 minutes down the road is a petrol station, wait for us there. :D

drb5=Dave McD
6th July 2005, 15:47
Ooooooh yeah! ;)

There's a question then....what's the fuel like over there? Can you get Optimax OK, or is there even better?!

NeVeTaS
6th July 2005, 15:52
In France Super Plus (98RON) is very easy to get, same in Belgium.

In Netherland there are restrictions, so avoid filling up here.

In Germany, Shell & Aral sell ultimate, this is 100 RON + but it's not cheap.

AdamP
6th July 2005, 16:01
Are there planned fuelling stops?

Adam

NeVeTaS
6th July 2005, 16:07
Yes indeed there are, however if you feel you need to stop just get on the radio and ask Paul or myself (depending what group your in) to find the nearest station using sat nav.

AdamP
6th July 2005, 17:58
Ok, sounds good! Ours shouldn't need it as often as some though being a standard WRX ;)

Adam

drb5=Dave McD

Oooooh, 100RON. That sound's tasty!!! Will defo be making sure i have that in the car. Worth the dosh, i say! ;) :D

I was due to be getting the CSL back today, but they forgot to change some bits over I asked them too, another 5 days in the 1.3 KA.

I'm unsure whether to leave on the 'cup' tyres or put on normal road tyres.

I asked on a BMW forum, and they said I'm a gay boy if I take the cup tyres off!

Then again, I'd probably a dead boy if it rains when I have them on, so gay or dead. Choices Choices! tongue.gif tongue.gif

drb5=Dave McD

We are meeting up with David at Calais Services.

If it's raining I'll be stuck in the slow lane doing 70mph, so may have to meet you there.

When we arrive it's fingers crossed if we have rooms or not, but Karl has spoken to Weber and all seems OK.

I had an email from a friend at Euro Tunnel, he's going to try and get us a private coned of area we can all park in. Should also be able to get us all lined on the the train to take some cool pics.

Unfortunatly I had to sell my camera to fund the csl, so if anyone else is taking a decent camera would be great to get some piccies of all the events for a nevetas & 22b DoT Com Reveiw, Pavlo style!

Can we have a bit more info on the accomodation, i need to know whether to buy a tent etc.

On another note, due to an insurance company being stupid, and the uncertainty re accomodation, Alan Bell will not be coming.

My friend Lee has just been told he now cant have the time off work.

So at this rate i will be coming on my own in my MG :(

Yes boss you HAVE to come!!!!!!!

I'll have to cadge a lift, maybe Steven's got room in his boot ;)

NeVeTaS
8th August 2005, 18:16
I'm sure we can sort you out a lift somewhere.

I have no problem picking you up on Friday, but space is rather limited in the back of the 911 for the 5 hour drive to the hotel. But I'm sure we could then find you a lift over to the hotel, I think Pavlo has plenty of room.

Also Steven has a TWIN room booked, and he is know on his own, so you can bunk in with him.

Your a bam, Steven! :D

One of the first car's i'd buy right there, if i won the lottery. :D

I have a spare seat, if you can't find a space elsewhere.....from the other side of the water, that is.

NeVeTaS
8th August 2005, 19:07
Well I made the mistake of walking into a 911 showroom, it was bound to happen! :D

Well I can get Mark over to Calais no worries, so looks like you are sorted Marky boy, what time shall I pick you up! :D

drb5=Dave McD
8th August 2005, 19:13
Did you think about getting one for long?

Heard a 4S with some kind of sports zorst on it and it's one of the few car's that REALLY sounded the business, without costing 120k+. smile.gif

Can't wait to see it now. :D

NeVeTaS
8th August 2005, 19:19
Well actually test drove the 4S with sports exhaust and yes it sounds awesum. However just didn't have the 'kick' of the turbo.

They were simular prices (4S was 2 years newer though) but just had to have them turbo's!

I will try and keep this one longer than the 2 months I kept the CSL! :D

LOL, i will have bags of space on the way down, and can pick Mark up on my war too ;) :D

Steve, you git, was really looking forward to a ride in the CSL, having been in a M3 SMG, i wanted to compare.

Oh well, the 911TT will have to do i guess, its only one of my dream cars, as in if i had the cash, i would buy it just to try it. Bet its still not as quick as Marks ;)

Steven

Steven
8th August 2005, 19:33
Oh, can i get a radio too.

NeVeTaS
8th August 2005, 19:38
Nothing is as quick as Marks!

TO be fair as a track car, I'm sure the CSL would be the better option, but I'm spending so much of my time now on motorways it was starting to hammer the miles on the CSL, and high milage one just don't sell :( Awesum car though!

OK so Mark, Steven will pick you up etc etc, I will leave all that with you two guys.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Friday,

OK Have added you to our list, see above ^^^^

This is going to be one crazy trip! I pick the 911 up at 11am on Friday then it's literally straight onto the train. I'll be doing about 50mph trying to get used to it. I guess 5 hour drive is enough to get acustomed :D :D

See you guys at 5pm at Lakeside, my number is 07733 327 743. If you are running late then just drive directly to the train.

Nev, you know you are only buying these motors to see if you can keep up with the Scoobies... :D

Guys do not forget to leave your radar detectors at home, if you get pulled by the french police you have had it... :(

As you lot know, I could not book into the hotel that I have been using for the past 6 years, because you lot have taken it over... :D

I am trying to book a cab from my hotel for Saturday night, so we can have a few beers.. :D
