Check this video out... (http://www.daveakerman.com/~tchurly/2003.wmv)

and this website (http://www.stelvio.org.uk/)

Why should Elises have all the fun... we should do a Scooby Stelvio 2004 run...

What do you think???

Here's a nice pic to give you all a good idea of what it entails

I checked out the Elise Tour for 2004 and they are planning on it lasting about 2 weeks. Might be alright if you've retired but not if you work and are career-minded. :(

I'll check out the distance - it appears to be on the Italian/ Austrian border - in the Alps - it is the 2nd highest road in Europe and is apparently 50km long.

I did a search on Multimap for a route from Portsmouth to Belvio (the start of the pass) - have a look here... (http://www.multimap.com/map/aproute.cgi?client=public&lang=&useRJS3=true&rn=EU&input_rt=aproute_pan&startrd=&starttown=portsmouth&startpc=&startcountry=GB&endrd=&endtown=bormio&endpc=&endcountry=IT&starttime=00%3A00&qs=q)
It looks like 660 miles from the other side of the Channel - should be able to do it in 1 day - 2 nights in a hotel nearby with an ascent & descent of the pass in between then drive back on the 3rd day. It's all a bit hectic - but what an experience to remember???

I'd reckon on about 300 quid in petrol in total + hotel accom + ferry charges - Cheap at twice the price... :D

Some more links for you to check out

I'd be well up for it - maybe at the bank holiday weekend in August.

What do you think - any more takers???

ps If anyone has done this before then your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

F Nice one Floyd

Someone has suggested to me that we should call in at the Nurburgring on the way back for a couple of laps. Sounds good to me and not too far off track - take in some fast Autobahns getting there too.

Hi from Italy, I am part of a quite big group of Subaru Owners, and we would be very pleased if you will organize a travel up to our mountains smile.gif
We have lots of streets full of hairpins :D
Tha Passo dello Stelvio is one of the most famous since it's the test road of Brembo (its plant is not far away from there).
Visit our site and, if you're intersted in coming to Italy we can provide you all the information and arrange a meeting full of Subaru there!

Raffaele Hi Raffaele

Good to hear form you and we will certainly have to meet up in the future. However this is now going to have to be put back till next year as I'm hoping to get a good number of Subarus from the UK

This is now going to change to Stelvio Tour 2005 - in September next year. Hopefully it will give more scooby owners a chance to plan and save up and we can all have a trip to remember.

If anyone is interested then please drop me an email to terry.buckel@btopenworld.com and I can then keep you posted on progress.

Cheers

That video could do with a bit of music in the background, and a suction mounted camera ;)
