OK, stop snickering already will ya http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif

The SIR (Subaru Impreza Rijders) club in Belgium would like to invite you all for their international meeting on August 27.

Apart from the incredible number of Belgian members (hum), there will be some Dutch & French guys as well. We would however also like to see a few UK guys & gals.

The program:

(management summary: point at each others cars, discuss (painted orange widget = +10 bhp !), beer, food, more beer):

. kickoff at the largest town square in Belgium, in Sint-Niklaas (between Ghent and Antwerp), about 1.5 hrs drive from Calais if you drive sensibly
. departure at 10 am (yeah, I know, that's 9 am for you lot) towards Breskens (panoramic view, great route). Short stop there.
. off to Bruges then via Sluis (no, not for the porn shops) and Damme
. lunch at Bruges St.Cross, two different restaurants over there
. tour rally (arrow/dots) and photo recon in the "Zwin" area.
. diner in a *very* nice restaurant in Lissewege

Our meets are normally pretty laid back, no max power racing, family & kids welcome.

Please respond to this thread so we have an idea how many places we should make a reservation for.

Costs: apart from your own gasoline and paying for your own food, this meeting is absolutely free for all.

Cheers,

Theo

I'm bringing a 22B-full!
We are going to stay near Folkstone Saturday night, get an early Eurostar and then come back on the last one that evening, at which point I will be sloshed and the wife will be deciding if we stop in Folkstone again, or drive back to Essex.
Had a look at the map and drive home shall be very easy and short, about 120k's from Lissewege to Calais - nice!
Cheers

Great chuckster, that'll be the first real 22B we'll see in the flesh then.

Of course, it falls into oblivion compared to the new MY01 http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif , but still ...

See you on the 27th ! Promise you won't regret the trip.

Anders/Chuck.
I would love to go as well.

No doubt my girlfriend will want to go but i may bring a 'petrol head' who will enjoy the cars and the meals as apposed to her ladyship who will slaughter my credit card in shops.

How much is the eurostar? anyone know? do we book before hand or do we p.o.a?

Ronaldo (obsessed with travelling and foreign lands)

Hey big Ron, we virtually meet again!
I'm doing it as a day trip, gotta go to work on the bank holiday monday, damn!
Eurotunnel is 47, but better get it booked as I noticed the most sociable times in the evening are full http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/eek.gif . A 2 day return is around 160ish I think. The 47 is a 'special' fare which is available only if booked at least 24 hours in advance.
I am catching a train before 7am our time (due to lost hour) so will be staying down Folkstone Saturday night and going out there hopefully. Drop me a line on chuckster@22b.com if you want more details, or we'll speak in chat some afternoon this week!
Cheers
Chuck

Guys,

Im booked on Sea France to travel late Friday (21:30 BST) Night and Return Monday at 20:30 CET. It was only 97 for the 3 day return for me and the missus!

Will need to look at hotels in area. Perhaps one in Calais Friday night and then perhaps stay at the same Hotel as Ronnie Sat and Sun Night.

Please could you send hotel (or B&B) details?

Cheers,

James.

James, you've got mail !

As it stands now, we have about 21 cars confirmed for the meet, including people from Subaru Belgium and a Luxemburg Subaru dealer. We'll probably end up with about 25 cars / 50 participants, which is great.

1 week to go! yipee!

I am travelling to Belguim Friday evening and staying in hotel planned. I am meeting James Harvey in dover (cars having work done on the friday morning so she should be running sweet and sounding like a steam train-psssccccctttt...going for a dump valve for the external entertainment)

I will be going into town on the saturday more than likely with my mate and our other halves-does anyone know if the hotel we are booked into will mind us using a hose for cleaning the car?-I will no doubt be sporting a shed load of flys/wasps and shite from the journey and I want it looking good for the french porno shoot that is planned http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/wink.gif

For those of you who wont don't me, on the day myself and my colleague from the office will be wearing yellow company rugby shirts http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/wink.gif

Also, how much is fuel in belguim and I take it I need a small ammount of FF as well as BEF.

(Have got warning triangle sorted, bulb kit, first aid kit and also removed my radar detector~been warned by my mate in traffic that you can be seriously done for them being in the car, let alone in use in france/belguim. Got a GB sticker too. It says WRX. lol)

See you all there.

Woa, this is totally getting out of hand <g>

Of course, and again, welcome to the meet.

If you read this thread and are coming to Belgium next Sunday, would you be so kind to reply here whether you (and your passengers) stay for the restaurant in Lissewege (18:00 pm) ? A simple Restaurant YES or NO will do.

That way, we can more or less accurately add the reservations needed. The Dutch guys suddenly woke up, and it seems like there will be over 40 cars now ...

Could you do me the favour ?

Cheers,

Theo

PS : James, the Terry you speak of, is that Terry Evans ? I still have it on my list to call him, as he talked to Jo 2 weeks ago, and wasn't sure then. If so, I don't have to call him.

PS2: no matter what people tell you on all the forums about Belgium & France and "just have a heavy foot": be realistic ... the police normallly won't bother you for not having a sticker or going 10 mph over the speed limit (except 30 mph areas, you better stick to them), but they WILL get nasty if you do some dangerous, inappropriate or superfast driving. It's common sense really.

Super Schweet dude! Had a great time, met tonnes of people and ate the biggest piece of cow I've had in ages - top stuff!
Excellent organisation Theo, the Sint Niklaas square won't see another gathering of cars like that again in a hurry http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/cool.gif http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif .
Thanks for the invite, same time next year? I promise not to make it just a day trip next time, the beer is just too good to leave early like I did this time http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/frown.gif .
Cheers,
Chuck

Evil and Co

Many many thanks for your hospitality! What a fabulous day out. Although i do not own a subaru, the sight of 60 odds scoobys in Sint Niklaus square was a thrilling sight. And when everyone started up WOW! WOW! what a great fanfare of exhaust noises...terrific!

Great to meet old customers and put some faces to the email names. Well worth the effort.

For those that did not come to the event...dont cry...maybe you'll come next year?

Theo and friends....a big thank you!! Well done!!
