Hi Anders,

I am very interested in taking part at the Ring, the sooner the better. I know someone who goes quite regularly but would be even better if there was a convoy of Scoobs.

My Dutch friends have a connection who owns a guest house very close to the track, I mean the one way open toll road http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi folks ... I'll be there with the scooby this easter, also on the weekend of May 13th, July 8th, August 19th, and October 7th or 14th.

You might like to join the ringers mailing list (send a blank message to <ringers-subscribe@onelist.com>. The list's calendar (accessible to subscribers) has the Ring opening times for the year. It's quite a quiet & general list, but when organising trips we'll announce a separate sublist for logistics etc. pertaining to each trip.

Opening times, ticket prices, accommodation suggestions, trip reports, pictures, maps, links etc. can be found on my mate Ben's excellent site:

www.lovejoy.demon.co.uk/nuerburgring/ (http://www.lovejoy.demon.co.uk/nuerburgring/)

And on my site:

www.ifeng.demon.co.uk/trackdays/ring/ (http://www.ifeng.demon.co.uk/trackdays/ring/)

Any questions, let me know ...

A.

Hi y'all,

I just found this BBS and am visiting the 'ring at Easter. Here's an extract from an e-mail that I've sent to a few guys. The invitation applies to you all. Let me know, if you want to tag along/meet up/need info.

"I booked my ferry yesterday for 20th April and I'm on the 08:15 to Calais, so should be on French soil by 09:30 UK time. From Calais there will be a dirve of about 4 hours plus an hour for lunch which should put me/us at the 'ring a little after three. So there will be time to get settled in at the hotel and make our way down to the "pits" to see who's around before having an exploratory lap or two. The Nurburgring is beyond comparison with any of the tracks in the UK and even if you don't come along this time, I strongly recommend that you visit it at some point if you have an interest in driving quickly. There's no need to worry about being blindingly quick, there will be people of all abilities out on the track (and I do mean all), but things are remakably well-ordered for a system that relies largely on common sense and good will.

If you need hotel numbers or any other help, then please feel free to ask. Equally, please feel free to make suggestions, etc. I would be grateful if you could let me know whether you intend to journey to the 'ring at Easter or if you wish to meet up in order to form a convoy. That way I can keep a look out for you at the 'ring, even if you don't join the convoy. Also, please feel free to circulate this e-mail to anyone who you think may be interested.

By the way, I've booked my return for the 25th. There will be four full days of track time available to the public (21st-24th). Obviously I don't intend spending all of my time on track, but will look for excursions and other things to do in the area."

Hope to see a few of you at Calais or thereabouts,
Tony

Adam,
What does your timetable look like? Any chance of hooking up somewhere in France or Belgium?

Harj,
What about Easter then? Soon enough for you? It'll give you a chance to be ahead of the game when you make a return visit (which you will feel compelled to do) in the summer with Anders.

Tony,

Frimley - that's just down the road from me!

I may be interested (depending on work). Any info on hotels, numbers going etc? Did you have to make special arrangements with your insurance company?

Are you going to the Fleet meet tomorrow? If so we could chat then.

Cheers,
Rich.

We're on the noon Dover-Calais Hovercraft on the 20th and returning on the 3pm Hovercraft on the 25th.

You probably won't want to hook up with us because as well although our little convoy includes Scooby, M3 and Elise, we also have a Primera, an MX5 and a 306 (diesel), and four of us are towing trailers! We should get to the Ring in time for a couple of sighting laps on Thursday evening ...

If we don't meet you at the track, come to the Lindenhof bar in Nurburg Thursday night, I expect we'll be in there quite a lot.

I do know that a few Dutch Scoobists are staying in a village called "Kaisersesch" in hotel Kurfürst. That's about a 20-30 minutes warm-up drive to the Ring. Hope to see you guys up there then? http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Tony / Rich,

See ya one day http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif

Subarussian,

Will have to set up another local meet soon. Can't make the Essex one - off to Mira that day to learn how to drive sideways http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

The recent meet in Fleet was very good - were you there?

Perhaps when Tony is back we should meet up for lunch one day - want to hear about his latest trip to the Ring as I still plan to go when I've got more bottle (+ my Leda & AP's) http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Rich,

Lunch sounds like a good idea. E-mail me when you and Tony are available.

PS. No, I didn't go to the Fleet meet.

For anyone that hasn't seen already, the official Ring site (www.nuerburgring.de) now includes an English language version.

I also see that they've changed a few of the opening dates so it's not all
doom and gloom in June and July:

- a 4 day weekend (!) from Thursday 1st June to Sunday 4th June (previously
it was only going to be open for 2 hours on the Friday and Saturday)

- a 2.5 day weekend from Friday afternoon on 30th June until Sunday 2nd July
(previously it was closed on the Saturday)

Opening times for April-June: http://www.nuerburgring.de/eng/angebote/sf_n_01.htm

Just to clarify something...

Either I'm going mad or the Ring web site maintainer has been fiddling with the site because the 4 day weekend at the start of June which was 4 FULL days as of Monday, is now back to 2 full days and 2 x 2hr days. Unfortunately the 2 full days are the Thursday and Sunday!
