View Full Version : Elvington rwyb days- please read

apparently there is a final rwyb on the 10th sept at elvington for this season, 1/4m and top speed. i've been asked to pass on that this may also be the last straightliners rwyb for good for cars at Elvington, unless the attendance numbers are up for cars competing on the 10th. the previous dates this year and last for rwyb have been affected by weather/poor turnouts etc and they aren't viable to continue putting them on without enough support.

would be a great shame if the 1/4m rwyb days there are pulled, so this may be a chance to try and support the venue and straightliners rwyb days there.
This doent not affect SSO or TOTB plans, but many of you have been to the rwyb events, so please try and pass on or support the rwyb event on the 10th if you can.

gates open 9am approx, racing from 10.30, cost is 45 for unlimited runs.

It's all very well saying they need numbers, but so far this year, all they do mostly bike days. This is the first I've heard that cars will be allowed to run this late in the year at Elvington.

If they had a firm calender I think it would be easier to commit to coming, and you really can't blame the weather!

yeah true enough paul, i think the noise issue affected some of the car rwyb dates as they originally thought they'd not get all they wanted to run. first i heard about it was today myself, hence postng tonight.

10th Sept for cars was on Starightliners website months ago!

Sadly the numbers have diminished, largely due to cost increases, and poor facilities i think. Lively close by, the facilities dont bother me, but travelling a distance, they would.

It will be a great shame to see it end at elvington, but it is inevitable unless there is work from both sides.

1. More people attending

2. Instead of Trevor making it Cars only, he should allow a fixed number of bikes on the CarRWYB days, say 40 max, to help pay for the event, but he must also enforce that they join the back of the queue when waiting to run!

And if they returned the favour by letting some cars practice on the bike days!

I'd love to get over more often, but it just isnt viable, mostly down to cost.

As for the noise thing...are they saying, the cars are louder than the bikes ???

It was listed as bikes only.

Must have been a long while ago.

I'm pretty sure it was only june time I looked. It was the same last year, lots of bike only ones until they relented and opened up the now infamous october one to cars.

Personally I like elvington, but at 45 to run it makes it expensive when compared to 30 for pod (including entrance).

Steven

Its irrelevant now, but your right, it is expensive in terms of cash compared to Pod etc, but VFM wise, its better due to the amount of runs you can do if you choose to.

I'm with Steven, I put that RWYB (cars) date in my diary at least a few months ago.

Just had this from the timekeepers for Elvington

There will be a RWYB for cars and bikes on Sunday 10th September at Elvington.Looks like holding you position in the queue will be required!

Paul@Zen

They want more cars, yet they get all the bikes running round and round and pissing everyone off. I was very much looking forward to this, even more so after the shambles that was the pod.

They may not have dates for another week or 2, but try Avon.

Ive been twice, and both times, you could pretty much get as many runs as you wanted, all day.

I will hopefully get to Santa Pod later this year again, for some reason it just has an attraction. But if you want track time, Avon is the place to go from my brief experience of it, and its not a million miles away from you Paul.

I have emailed them already and asked them to ensure that the bikes dont push in.

Trevors response

We will have 2 cues one for bikes and one for cars we will take an equal number from each cue and run them in turn,, Trevor

I take it anyone caught skipping the que will be given a right good belting with the respective cue? :D

Maybe some of the faster cars should race the bikes :D that would then keep them occupied in the pits trying to work out how a souped-up farm vehicle had just wasted them :D

I am coming. Car needs a fair bit of mapping I think, so it may come along slowly during the day if I can't get some mapping done.

Any willing test pilots for the saturday evening? ;)
