View Full Version : Pre SSO Meal

Steven

Ok, as is becoming the norm.

Meal the night before? Possibly a BBQ, but if not, a meal at a local restaurant near me/elvington.

I would favour something other than the chinese for a change. Not sure what though, but a BBQ sounds nice, it would be nice to have Wallis attend and not have him leave early to mapping the car or destroying the engine!

Paul

Steven
7th March 2005, 14:30
It wont be the chinese. Its closed now, think there supposed to building houses on it, or so the rumour goes.

BBQ has my preference, but obviously weather dependant.

Paul..

it would be nice to have Wallis attend erm you might not say that the next day when your hangover causes problems :D

You are braver than I am Christian..

He will have trouble getting in the car after you have told them that, let along running the car down the strip.

The food provided has always been very nice and very generously given!

Right, finally remembered to mention this to Em at the weekend, and everything ok.

2 options though.

A) You bring your own meat and booze, we provide salads, bread, etc.

OR

B) We provide all the food (selection of steak, burgers, sausages etc, from local butchers) and you bring your own booze, but chuck 5 into kitty for said food.

Note: If your a veggie, sort yourself out tongue.gif

Sorry if option b sounds a bit tight, but i did a bbq recently, which cost over 100 in meat alone.

If we go option B, then i can assure you, the quality of meat will be excellent, and if Em is in a good mood, she may make some home made burgers, which are just awesome :D

Let me know your thoughts please, and list your names and options, ala:

If the 'ci' bit is red it's the 115 model (like mine), if it's just the 'i' then it's the 100...I think...

Indeed...mine is slightly older than the one listed MY02 rather than MY03...I don't have ABS or the side airbags, and I think I have less torque 177lbft IIRC

Steven

What time are you planning to start the BBQ?? Also can you please email me your address to terry.buckel@btopenworld.com

I'll be at Japfest on Saturday so probably won't be up your way till late. Was thinking of staying at my parents in Lancashire - but that wouldn't be half as much fun :D :D :D

Cheers

The BBQ:

It's the only type of cooking a real man will do. When a man Volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into Motion:

1) The woman buys the food.

2) The woman makes the salad, vegetables, and dessert.

3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill -- beer in hand.

4) The man places the meat on the grill.

5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.

7) The man takes the meat off the grill and hands it to the woman.

8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.

9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

10) Everyone praises the man and thanks him for his cooking efforts.

11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off."

And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that: there's just no pleasing some women

Advance Warning - My version of BBQ

1) Emma buys the food.

2) Emma makes the salad, vegetables, and dessert.

3) Emma prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the bbq where i am lounging beside the grill -- beer in hand.

4) Emma or whoever would like to eat places the meat on the grill.

5) Emma goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

6) Emma comes out to see that the meat is burning. I grab another beer while she deals with the situation.

7) Emma or whoever wants to eat takes the meat off the grill.

8) Emma prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.

9) After eating, the Emma clears the table and does the dishes.

10) Everyone praises Emma for her cooking efforts.

11) I thank Emma for yet another excellent BBQ.

Thats the truth, i dont cook unless i HAVE to.

Looking forward to Saturday night.

I know the mondeo is slow, I dont need to prove it.. but its is less than you and steven.

Its just a shame I have to insure it!

Anyway the mondeo will be there smile.gif

Just remember your insurance isnt valid.. and I will ram you with the car!! :D

Simon, i will decide the night before which vehicle we will be going in, and you are more than welcome to catch a lift, no doubt in any of the vehicles that will be at my house in the morning.

SAFETY NOTICE
No donutting (sp?) in my field!! even if i say you can when i am drunk.

You wont have me to answer to, it'll be Emma :D

Car has taken a beating lately, having had 2 long days at work, and the a64 being completely clear when i got onto it, the poor car never stood a chance of getting an easy drive home. I hit 4500rpm in 5th (took ages mind), which was an indicated 135!!!!

Cool thanks!

I was looking forward to doughnutting the bike too :( ;) lol..
Altohugh tried that before on my lawn.. road tyres and grass on a bike really don't mix unless you are use to riding on ice.

I did have to laugh when Emma bit my head off when I was last up and then appologised as she thought I was you walking behind her with the BBQ that she wanted somewhere else..
Don't tell her I said that as I don't want to experience it again smile.gif

I assume that they have to be worn?
I have two bike lids in the garage so I also assume they will be ok?
not long now!

See you guys tomorrow afternoon, we (Simon and I) should be arriving about 6 or 7 depending on whether Simon lets me stop in a juicer to catch the second half!

Simon you tart!! We wouldn't have minded the wake up it was the climbing into bed with one of us due to the alcohol intake we were worried about.
And judging by the state of Steven in the morning we were right to be worried tongue.gif

Again big thanks to Emma and Steven. Amazing hosts and a great laugh.

A really good weekend. Helped along by the friendly people, some good results and a little alcohol ;)

How many times did you wash that car?

I needed the sleep anyway, and wanted to be sober and on my guard after Steve telling me I would be woken up by the c*ck..

lol.. less weight and more streamlined..

how is the new gearbox??

Dyney
25th May 2005, 11:00
I'll let you know once I get the old one out the boot!!! smile.gif

But after a little panic when Paul phoned to say check the rear diff ratios redface.gif
It run fine all the way home. We could even talk at 100mph on the way back (something that was getting more difficault with the old 5 speed) ;)

Think Steve was quite impresed when I floored the throttle and we still took off even with all the weight in the back :D

Well dropped the old box off at the workshop this afternoon smile.gif
Yes it was well used - 120k miles redface.gif

Steven was so right about the UK 6 speed ratios on the 2.5. Point and squirt in any gear :D

I didn't think it was noisey (no whineing) but the journey home was much more civilised than the way up ;)

Dyney
26th May 2005, 03:45
Might have been due to the boot and back seat being full though :D

Simon_
26th May 2005, 07:46
lol...

I was very impressed with the lack of noise in Andy's (Peanuts) car on the motorway.. put it dowbn to the headers and revolution exhaust but perhaps it is just the mileage on my gearbox and the wagon boot echoing the exhaust?

Simon
