View Full Version : 22b.com meet (south)

Adamantium
12th February 2004, 13:41
was wondering if anyone feels like having a meet up for everyone who reads this forum.

one sunday I think.

anyone else keen?

could do a central one which is fairer on everyone, though I appreciate it is still somewhat difficult for our scottish friends.

anyone interested?

I am not arranging anything!

Delete this thread and call it a 22b.com meet..otherwise it looks less appealing.

Paul,

you are a genius.

I was not aware of that!

moderators meet hasn't happened yet.

can do a normal peoples meet.

How about zins palace in bushey since those who have been there like it.

I know I will be able to make it and I will go so far as to say so will pat and moray.

so

Adam
Pat
Moray

who else?

we can set a date when we have people.

Paul, will you be there?

Paul@Zen
12th February 2004, 15:34

Simon

Adamantium
24th February 2004, 11:19
agree with mark,

we have often sat there eating like birds as we do only too aware of the surround scavengers, like vultures eyeing their food from their vast height (6'2" and 6'4") above the table and then swooping in, chopsticks extended in a fight for survival.

Saying that occasionally pat has been known to relinquish a spare rib as he isn't a fan but moray (or human waste disposal) will devour anything nearly edible.

Lateral Performance Ltd
24th February 2004, 11:25
Gauntlets are also advisable, just incase a digit is mistaken for something edible !

However, there is a trick to being able to have a relaxed meal with said people.......

Pat hates anything with bones, and Moray hates sea food, so,

Chinese ribs, wings, and shellfish it is :D

Mark.

Simon_
24th February 2004, 11:42

David,

Hoping you are staying on Adam's sofa and can therefore make it?

Other solution is a B&B (I left the expensive hotels in for the  )

You could also crash at mine but it is an hour and three quarter drive back after and I have to get up early for work the next morning.

Careful Simon, you have to make sure that the terms of the competiton are absolutely clear...

The prizes offered for each category and winning criteria must be set at least a day before the competition and posted on the forum for all to see...

We don't want any allegations of untoward behaviour, do we now?

I'm very concerned about sponsoring a competition of this nature, for I fear that the less experienced, may at best, lose an eye, and at worst, be mistaken by Pat, and Moray, as something edible  ;)

Whilst not sponsored by me, I have in the past, participated in similar competitions, and I'd suggest that eye protection, and full body chain mail is a pre-requisite, for anyone wanting to attend.

As yet, no underwriter has been prepared to cover such an event, so it's recommended that life policies, wills, and personal affairs are put in order, so that should the worst happen, loved ones, and dependants suffer as little as possible.

Personally, I think it would be worth everyone making a contribution, so that paramedics can be on hand.

Only just found this, doh! Would need many weeks to persuade other half that I could have an evening out pass on 'mothers day'. Not sure it is even possible with level 10 grovelling! Cost may be just too high as not enough brownie points earned recently (I may be in deficit in fact). Pity as I'd like to put faces to names and all that, especially as Tim could have given me a lift too :D

Good point Paul.. reminder needed!

Table is booked for 8pm so what 7:30 arrival, on Sunday 21st (this sunday) at Zins, I am about to ring them to check all is okay there end.

Address for Zins....

98-100 High Street
Bushey,
Hertfordshire
WD23 3DE

and a Multimap reference. (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&db=pc&addr1=&client=public&addr2=&advanced=&addr3=&pc=WD233DE&quicksearch=WD23+3DE&cidr_client=none)

I am expecting it to take me an hour and a half to get there so will be leaving home at about 6 the latest but hope to leave earlier.. can someone suggest a pub to meet in perhaps if people want to get there earlier?

Table is booked in the name "Simon" in the unfortunate circumstances that I get stuck on the M25 or something.

I would suggest meeting in The Mark (no joke) in Bushey Heath, if you get there early etc.

If Zins is on your left then it is about a mile or so up the road on the right hand side.

The entrance is in the middle of a fork junction with a church on the left hand side.

You will see the pub (big gold sign) on the right and the car park is just after it.

Glad to have confirmed table booking as I would have felt a little uneasy with 16 of us turning up without me checking as the table could have been booked on a different day or something.. lol

Didn't notice being the butt of everyone's jokes.

must have been the dry sense if humour being above my level.

I think its more a case that you are all so socially inept that if I don't make a fool of myself to keep people entertained we would sit in silence.

Having said that, we should definitely do it more often.

Was a great night and I really did enjoy myself, enabled me to wind down a bit prior to my drive to newport tomorrow followed by three days of cruel brain work.
