View Full Version : Northern Meet 4

MTR
8th July 2000, 12:15
Hello all,
Have just completed the recce and typed up the route for another Northern Meet. Uses different roads than Meet 2, some overlap with Meet 3 due to the start point. A LARGE section of very good roads with spectacular scenery.
Confirmed date 24Th September, 9:30am meet, for 10am start, at Eastbound side of Birch Services on the M62 between J18/19.
The 22B off the Clarkson video should be able to attend, again.
I will confirm date and start time a little later, as 2 of my friends are awaiting delivery of their Turbos at August/September.
Anders, and buddies, do you fancy it? We almost had 4 off 22B's at my last event.

I have edited this post to confirm the start date.
Cheers MTR

Hello all,
Just to confirm the date,
Sunday, 24Th September, 9:30am, Eastbound side of Birch Services, between J18/19 on the M62.

As well Pauls 22B Off the video, ( I'm sure if you ask him nice he will give you his autograph), there will be my friend Chris's;

Shelby Cobra Jet GT 500KR, 428 Cu/Ins, 7.2 Litre 1968 vintage, in Daytona Yellow.
A BEAST.
This is not an AC Cobra, but one of only 900 Carroll Shelby specials built.

A very possible Lancia Stratos replica, and Chris's mates not quite standard MGA.

Should be a hoot.

Cheers MTR

Just bringing it back up to the top after the sad demise of Scoobynet.

The Midlands guys will be organising a convoy up to Birch, probably with East & West Midlands meeting up at Keele Services on the M6?

Looking forward to it. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/owen/loopy.gif

For those of you who, like me, didn't know where Birch Services was just click on this link for a map

Charlie Whiskey,
Thanks for the info, I know Otis, and Young Ged have put their names down, and several others, whose names I can't remember.

Today, I have invited another WRX, a Lotus Elise, and a chap who was out playing in his Ferrari 360 Modena, and Ferrari 355 (his friend was driving the 355) he told me he also has a Porsche 911 Carrera 4, and a new Lotus Elise on order, but wether he will turn up or not I don't know. Here's hoping. http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif

MTR,

Due to the closure of the ScoobyNet (crying smilie) I'm not sure whether you got my question.

Could you please tell me where the meet is due to finish? I don't think I'll be able to make the start and wondered if everyone pulled up at the end and talked Scoobies.

Thanks

Mojo,
sorry I don't really want to state the finish point, as it would, in conjunction with having the start point, give a general area of the country we would be driving in. Maybe not a good idea.
Do try and make the run, I am sure you would enjoy the camarderie of being in convoy with some other tasty motors.

What is the general pace of the convoy?
There's no need for silly speeds on roads we don't know is there? http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/eek.gif

Voodoochild,
All meet up at start point, although I may set people on their way quickly in small groups, quick chat, then enjoy the run. Nice scenic quiet roads, no need for any illegal speeds to still enjoy yourself. Acceleration, and cornering can be as fulfilling as attempting to break the sound barrier, without needing to be illegal. You will have your own route to follow, a navigator to read the notes is VERY HANDY, so you can drive at your pace, take in the scenery, final meeting point on a private car park, where we can then talk at leisure about our cars, without upsetting the public or police.

Cheers MTR

So its looking like it could be a varied and interesting bunch.

PS when you post your interest, can you please state your car type, age and colour, if it is OK with you, then I can add your details to the above list. It allows people to see what cars are coming.

Gilly and Hubby,
Smashing, I think you have just put a smile on the face of every rallying enthusiast attendee.

As I have stated previously, I do not MAKE the event, ALL OF YOU WHO ATTEND, MAKE THE EVENT. I merely create a venue for interesting people with interesting cars to attend. It is much appreciated, by myself, that individuals take the time/effort/cost to bother attending. Then everybody reaps the reward.

Hello all,
To save you the trouble of trying to add up the types of car on the above list, here goes, I think?

2 x 22B
1 x STi 6
1 x STi V5 Type R
3 x STi 5
1 x STi 4
1 x WRX STi I
2 x P1
7 x WRX (93/94/97)
2 x WRX (age unknown)
1 x Series McCrae
1 x Catalunya
1 x Terzo (No 73)
1 x RB5
23 x MY00
6 x MY99
1 x MY99 Sport
4 x MY98 (1 5Dr)
4 x MY97
3 x MY96
1 x MY95
2 x MY94
10 x Impreza Turbo (not sure which type)
4 x EVO 6
1 x Shelby Cobra
1 x MGA
1 x Lancia Stratos Replica
1 x Westfield
1 x Puma 225 BHP
1 x Porsche 911 Turbo
1 x Ferrari 348
1 x Ferrari 360 Modena in Yellow
1 x Ferrari F40 (owners preference)
1 x Posche GT3 or Porsche 911 Twin Turbo
1 x Skyline GTR R34 V-Spec (not Chris's)

About 93 cars confirmed up to now.

And we have still got several weeks to go, so still keep posting.
We have got examples of Impreza Turbos from 1993 to 2000 inclusive, without mising a year. We could still do with STi II, III, to go with the current crop, then we would have collected a good example of most of the models.
So if any of you out there know anybody with said cars, ask them if they fancy coming.

Cheers MTR

Hello all,
This morning I went to see the chap with the Ferrari 360 Modena, Ferrari 355, Porsche 911 Carrera 4, BMW Z3 M tech 3.2 Litre, and the Elise on order, and he said he fancies coming to the meet, but didn't specify which car he would be bringing. i did suggest it might be nice to bring the 360.
Then this afternoon I bumped in to a chap taking his young son for a tootle in his bright yellow Ferrari 355 GTS. He was testing his race Ferrari at Donnington on Friday 11Th Aug, with some of the Scoobys, and he said he would like to come also. when I asked what car he would be bringing, his reply was, OK to bring the F40?. After I had picked my jaw up from the floor, I replied, but of course.
So to the gentleman concerned, if you are reading this post, please register on this BBS, and confirm what I have said, before I am classed as some rambling idiot (no comments from the rest of you regarding the last comment, please)

HELLO ALL,
YES I AM SHOUTING SO PLEASE LISTEN.

OLDHAM POLICE CURRENTLY ADOPT A VERY ROBUST ENFORCEMENT OF ILLEGAL GATHERINGS OF LARGE GROUPS OF CARS ON PUBLIC CAR PARKS,(THE MAX POWER MEETS AT THE ELK MILL IN ROYTON, HAVE BEEN BROKEN UP , AND INDIVIDUALS SENT PACKING, USUALLY WITH A TICKET) THEY QUESTION EVERY SINGLE ONE THERE, AND CHECK THE CARS OVER.

THEY WILL NOT TOLERATE IT!

AS WE WILL BE MEETING ALONGSIDE GREATER MANCHESTER POLICE MOTORWAY TRAFFIC HEADQUARTERS, (A DELIBERATE CHOICE, http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif ESPECIALLY AFTER THE THEFT OF THE RB5 AT DONNINGTON http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/frown.gif), YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HANG AROUND AND GOSSIP WITHOUT RISKING POLICE INVOLVEMENT.

I AM SURE NON OF YOU WISH TO BE CATEGORISED AS POTENTIAL TROUBLE MAKERS, SO THEREFORE ON ARRIVAL, I WILL USHER YOU INTO SMALL GROUPS (AS IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL TO CREATE LARGE CONVOYS, AND IT ISN'T A LOT OF FUN WHEN YOU CREATE YOUR OWN TRAFFIC JAM, DUE TO THE VOLUME OF NUMBERS), HAND YOU A ROUTE EACH AND SEND YOU ON YOUR WAY QUICKLY.THUS AVOIDING UPSETTING MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC AND THE POLICE.

THEN WE CAN ALL STAY HAPPY http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif

WE WILL HAVE AMPLE TIME TO CHAT ETC ON THE PRIVATE CAR PARK AT THE FINAL DESTINATION, LEGALLY.

PLEASE BE ASSURED THIS WILL BE FOR YOUR BEST INTEREST, AND I TRUST YOU WILL ALL HELP ME ACHIEVE A SMOOTH TROUBLE FREE DEPARTURE FOR US ALL.

P.S. Please lets not discuss the rights or wrongs of this type of policing on this thread, as it will take all year.

Hello all,
It's looking good up to now.
We have managed to get EVERY UK type Impreza Turbo from 1993 to 2000, I think, including 22B, P1, McCrae, Catalunya, Terzo, and RB5, along with WRX STi 1,4,5,6, and several other WRX's. If we can get an STi 2 and 3 then I think we have completed the set.

But either way current numbers are 93 cars confirmed, which I think is a tremendous response from you guys and gals.

Its not looking like the Sumbeam Alpine rally car will be there, as it is still off the road http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/frown.gif but lets hope some of the other invitees Austin Healy, Ginetta,TVR etc turn up to add to the confirmed, and varied bunch of petrol heads coming to the shindig.

So two weeks to go, and I can't wait.
