View Full Version : Swindon and Area meet

Jumbo
2nd April 2000, 20:25
Having recently become the proud owner of my first Scooby, I thought it would be good to meet up with fellow owners from around Swindon and the local area, eg: Chippenham, Cirencester etc.
The date in mind is the 14th May to be held at the 'Churchill' pub near junction 16 of the M4 which has a nice big car park and does great food. http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
It would be nice to meet the people I see driving around the area and maybe make a regular thing out of it.
I will post further details soon or you can e-mail me.
I look forward to your replies. http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi Jumbo/
I see you have booked in for Kemble on the 4th May see you there should be fun.
As Swindon is only a stoneís throw from Bristol I would love to pop up for a chat and a look at your cars. Might get a few more from this area we will have to see.
Regards
Bob Iles

If Bob is leaving Bristol at 08:30 that puts him in Cheltenham at approx 08:35 http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/wink.gif but it may be sooner as I've heard a rumour that he has tread on his tyres now

Hi/
PowerStation Sat 13th.
As we have a few (Dave Jumbo & Me) who are going to Powerstation on Saturday and rather than keeping people waiting on slip roads, perhaps we could meet at the services on the M4 St Michael Wood at about 09:00.

Swindon Sun 14th.
This Meet is about 11:00 so perhaps we could meet at Leigh Delamare at about 10:15

Doc/
Thanks for offering your services (If they were required) on the Exmoor run. http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/wink.gif Now I have tyres on the car I donít think I will be needing your services anymore. http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif I still require the services of a good psychiatrist. http://www.apc.net/judygal/licky4.gif

9am at St. Michael Wood it is then! http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/smile.gif
Right the meet is for 11am at the 'Churchill House' pub which is very easy to find off Junction 16 of the M4.
From the motorway, just follow the signs for Wootton Bassett, about 3/4 of a mile you'll come to a mini roundabout, keep following the signs for W.B (bear right) and the pub is just there on the left hand side. See you all there! http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Bob / Dave et al see you Saturday morning.
Cheers
Iain.

Maybe when I've figured how to post piccies here I'll do so, in the mean time I can e-mail them to anyone who's interested.
Cheers
Iain.

Must have been 10/12 there. Went through villages and everyone was just looking at us It must have been a great sight.
Good steaks you missed them and it was my turn too.
Never mind it will still be my turn next time I see you.
Doc getting faster he was really flying stayed with the faster lads no trouble. I think he will have to go to the front of the faster Exmoor runs soon.
Great day out sorry you missed it Nick as I know you love this type of thing.
Thanks for the entertaining day.
And see you soon Nick

For pics of meets, it's best just to put a URL link to where your pics are loaded. Like this: (url)http://www.yoursite.com/mypics.htm(/url)
For one pic, just use (url)http://www.yoursite.com/mypic.jpg(/url)

Replace the brackets with square ones.

sorry you missed it but hopefully we'll do another on the strength of this one.
Glad you enjoyed it Bob, sorry if it seemed like we were holding you up! http://bbs.22b.com/ubb/wink.gif
We even had a guy from Athens! Honest he had Greek plates! Ok he was a student from Oxford but he was a thoroughly nice chap. Shame he was low on fuel and couldn't make the drive.
Thanks again

Shame I missed it, looks like everyone enjoyed themselves. Nice pics. Were all the cars those common 4 door variety ? Didn't see any of those rare, good looking 5 door kind !!
I'll try and make the next one.

Bob, how are you finding the 17" with the S02's ? Grip/Turn-in etc

Steve.

Bob
19th May 2000, 11:16
SteveB/
The grip and turn in are the dogs bollox. But any speed up in the three figs is frightning. These SO2's are like driving on jelly at very high speeds with slow sweeping corners. Had a blast around the track on them and they gripped very well and did not skweel much. But then I only got to about 110 mph. They are not ready for a Exmoor run yet. I must wear them down a little bit more before I get them to grip fully.
