Prodrive power package , emmision and noise test

    Hi all

I have found a really Nice 2005 wrx sti type Uk with only 30.000miles on it
The car have a PPP with certificate from new ,
But the rules in DenmarkEU says ,
if the car is tuned there needs to be proof that the car is still Road legal
And there is No info on this other then a old add from Subaru UK that says that the car pass full type approvel and noise tests
But that Cant be used ass proff ,
The prodrive backbox i E-approved so there have been done som tests on it ,
But what about the ecu/ emissions

Do anyone know somebody at prodrive or subaru UK that knows anything about this

I have asked subaru uk , and they have come back with that they dont have anything on it

    Let med know

    Thanks

they were all dealer fitted AFTER registration so that would suggest they aren't maybe fully compliant??

Yes that could be the problem ,
I just find it Strange that they did take the time and money to get the backbox type approved but not the complete set
As this was what would need to have been done i would Think

Just Strange subaru write in ther add that its fully legal

I'm sure it is perfectly legal in the UK.

Denmark has some crazy rules though. Could they prove it is not legal ? Whatever their criteria actually is for legal or not ?

In Denmark we have to Prove that the emission Can still be as when the car was standard ,
If the car is modified ,
And the only Way to do that is if there was a document that proves that the car was EU legal from subaru or from another test center german tüv as a example
I presume that would have to be the case in UK also back in 2005 ,

If the cops suspekt the car to be modified ecu wise , the car Will be transported to a subaru main dealer and the ecu removed and sent to a Company that tests if the software is changed from standard and if it is , police Will drill a hole throug the ecu and you have to buy a brand new at the subaru main dealer and have the install it
The same goes for catalyst converter and exhaust and other modifications that is not legal
The car Can be made legal throug one Company only ,
And i would have to pay around 3500-4500 £ to make that happen ,
I then have to get the car transported to Essen in germany to have a type approvel emission test done ,
Were they collect all exhaust gasses in a test cycle when its run on a dyno ,
And the Company in Denmark the make the approvel says its almost impossible if the car is so new so its the euro 4 emmision cycle that it have to pass

The police is really is really focused on that now ,
So its only standard cars that are on the Road this summer , all the modified cars are sat at home with numberplates remowed ,
So its really sad right now in Denmark

And for my business also as i modifi Subarus and buy and sell Them ,
But nobody dare to buy modified cars now as the get inpounded buy the police ,
And if you have changed a lot on the car , it Can easely cost 10-12000£ to get it back to stock at a main dealer
    Otherwise the car get scraped

Subaru didn't release it as legal, "Subaru UK" approved a dealer fit option AFTER registration.........

I recall years ago when I went to DHB a lot of people did say the rules there were crazy. However there were some very impressive modified cars at it still wearing road plates.

I guess it has just got worse and worse. Not a nice place to live for a car enthusiast !
