    R180 Diff Conversion

Im currently doing a chain driven diff conversion for a project using an R180 diff from a 2004 impreza sti. I need to have some driveshafts made using the subaru inner cv joints which i dont have any spare, The rear shafts seem to be pretty rare second hand and I don't seem to be able to find an aftermarket supplier for the cv joints.

Will any other shafts from other models have the same inner cv joints with matching splines ??

    Cheers

Surely shafts should be very common ? Every new model STI up to around 2007 had them ?

I think the majority of them are sold off with the gearbox as complete 6 speed conversion packages. Ive now found new aftermarket complete shafts for 99, im not sure i would trust them on my Impreza but they should be fine for the project im working on.

If anybody has any broken rear shafts i would be interested for a couple of spares.

    Cheers

I see a pair of STI Forester rear shafts on ebay for 130....I'd be almost sure they're the same ? Subaru don't tend to change many parts.

Or a pair of STI ones for 300 which seems a bit astronomical.

The aftermarket ones....really depends what parts they've changed, remade or re-used. OEM ones are renowned for being very strong.

I did see the set from the Forester Sti, I think any rear shaft from any six speed version 7 onwards will have the correct inner cv joint. Ive managed to find one single shaft form a generic breaker for 40 so far, most specialist subaru breakers are asking 300 a set.

R160 rear shafts only sell for around 20 each but i need an lsd which most dont have and i already had a spare v8 r180 complete rear diff to scavenge the parts from that i need.
