the 114 bearing from the STI hub is considerably bigger than the 5x100 08 wrx and Legacy equivalents. they are not interchangeable - though the Tribeca bearing looks a possibility to get these to the 114 fitment.

the WRX & Legacy steering arm is 10-11mm lower than the STI 5x100 & 5x114 hubs - dials out most of the bump steer that the Impreza hub has.

Had a new age that suffered from hub flex and pad knock off on std 5x100 hubs when pushed hard on track - using the Legacy hub has eliminated this issue so it's definitely a win win using the later bolt on bearing hubs.

    That's 114.5 pcb
Maybe it's a fit for the legacy, forester, '08 WRX hub?

    Latest part number:

    28373XA00B

It seems that this bearing hub is the same as per STI 114.3 hub :

    http://www.finestautoparts.com/28373.../dp/B00DMA5BEU
his is a 28373 XA00B. [.......]This fits the following cars: SUBARU IMPREZA G12 2007-, SUBARU IMPREZA (GR,GV) G22 2007-, SUBARU TRIBECA W10 2004-. The compatible part numbers for this part are: 28373-XA00B, 28373FG010

28373FG010 is part number of STI 114.3 bearing hub according to opposedforces

    Tribeca bearing hub cross references:

    PRECISION 513239
    NTN HUB103T-39
    TIMKEN HA590150
    SKF BR930678
    FAG FW9239
    FEDERAL MOGUL 513239
    SUBARU 28373-XA00B
FEBEST CROSS REF IS WRONG - GOES TO IMPREZA STI, NOT TRIBECA

These measurements MIGHT be correct ones for the Tribeca and STI bearing - the same, apart from the flange off-set difference?:

    Wheel Flange Dia (mm/in):138.00 / 5.433
    Wheel Bolt Cir Dia (mm/in):114.30 / 4.500
    Wheel Bolt Qty:5
    Wheel Bolt Threads:M12x1.25
    Spline Qty:27
    Brake Pilot (mm/in):58.00 / 2.284
    Wheel Pilot (mm/in):56.00 / 2.205
    Flange Offset (mm/in):46.50 / 1.831 (1.5" on Tribeca?)
    Mtg Bolts Cir Dia (mm/in):144x56x70.3 / 5.669x2.204x2.767
    Mtg Bolt Qty:4
    Mtg Bolt Threads:M12x1.25
    Mtg Pilot Dia (mm/in):84.00 / 3.307

Front 'classic size' wheel bearing upgrade?

Would some custom ceramic bearings to fit the hub size be any advantage. Or the bearing needs to be larger?!
Should be possible to find a better more modern style bearing to fit the stock hub?!

I'm confused. LIC say out of stock (and price is high) but order time is 5/6 weeks anyway, so special order only? Difference in roll centre of 08 WRX knuckle - the WRX & Legacy steering arm is 10-11mm lower than the STI 5x100 - does this mean I don't need to use my roll centre correction kit any more?

These 08 WRX knuckles - buy new from dealer or are they available second hand?

Glad this thread is sparky some healthy discussion.

08 WRX knuckles seems to be hard to find in my country. The only donor I found were car from crash and most of the time the front end is heavily damaged. I don't want to use damaged parts from crash car... at the end it could be worse than OEM tinny bearings.

Once again, it would be very interesting to get the dimensions of bearings of each 5x100 and 5x114.3 to compare and close the discussion if bearings are smaller or not. Thanks to 2pot, we have the dimensions of Tribeca, just miss the other. If someone can post, it would be great.

the bearings are smaller in the 5x100 hub - 100%

Roll centre does not change with the difference in steering arm height - only bump steer changes - which is better than earlier hub but you still need the corrected track rod ends from the roll centre kit to make it work correctly.

Knuckles can be Legacy BL/BP '04-'09 or later Legacy. Or '08 on Forester. As well as '08 on WRX
    28313AG020
    28313AG030

    Something else interesting.
Same bolt-in wrx, forester, legacy bearing (*All 76mm od*) different mounting plate design. Wonder if one is technically better than the other.

I've linked to the summit site, as you can seriously enlarge the image.

    Normal mounting plate:

    Trapezoidal mounting plate:

Finally upgraded my hubs to Legacy units from a 2010 car, bought second hand from Ebay. Gained some extra negative camber, which was discovered during alignment. Needed the 8mm spacers from Alyn. Did the dodgy ABS mod and will check regularly but seemed to work at the Ring for it's maiden trial!
