View Full Version : Team Subaru TOTB4 Candidate List

pat
4th February 2005, 22:30
PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BELOW BEFORE POSTING

This thread is here to register your interest in participating as a member of the Team Subaru entry into this year's Ten Of The Best (TOTB4).

This thread is for tracking purposes only, please do not pollute it with any off-topic banter, unnecessary posts etc. Only post if you genuinely want to add your car(s) to the list of candidates to be included for consideration.

You will need to provide sufficient details to allow the organisers to select the most appropriate cars for inclusion in the team. At the very least, they'll need your name, a means of contacting you, and some idea of how well your car goes.

In the interests of making life easier for the organisers, please don't register unless you genuinely believe your car can be competive! On the flip side, the selection process is open to anyone who owns / drives a Subaru, so please don't assume you're excluded just because of X Y or Z, if you have a Vivio which can do a 9 second quarter, you've got a pretty good chance of getting selected!

I will also register my interest in this event. I should hopefully have some figures on march 12th.. this is when I have my first sprint. However, this will not be at full power as my uprated ppg gearset hasn't arrived yet. The next sprint after this one is June 12th.

Chris, can you please open a new thread with your 200+ r/r post. I could create a new thread for it myself, but that would mean either posting the thread under my own name, or having to use admin privs to post as you, which I would very much prefer not to do. smile.gif Cheers, Moray

Steven, whats the cutoff point for joining? Things are progressing nicely, I will no more in the next few weeks :D

Steven
15th February 2005, 20:21
Conrad, cut off as far as Official entries goes are very early July. We can not make any changes to the team after that TBH.

I think as a team, we should have at least 60% of the team selected by the end of SSO3, which is 22nd May.

im still wanting to take part this year but as things stand at the moment i cant coment on my car for this year as im still getting my engine built at the moment but whats planned for it goes as

2.65 closed deck block ( built by crawford performance from the states)
gt35r turbo with tail 44mil waste gate
crawford performane race heads
custom built uppipe and downpipe
ive already got other stuff done to it from last year
hoping to get around 550-600bhp out of the engine then planning on running 100 shot of direct port nitrous

ran times of 11.69 at last years totb and hoping for lot better this year if the build goes as planned

kev

Steven
16th February 2005, 20:35
kev, can you send me an email to that effect, thats where i am collating the info.

Thanks

Sounds very interesting :D You still going NOS even though you seemed a little peeved initially on the day last year when it went POP ;)

Steven

kev_p1_betsy
16th February 2005, 21:00
The more i think about it, it was more my own fault that i forgot to turn the nitrous of for the top speed run so when i was on the limiter in fifth i was spaying in lots of nitrous cause i had upped the jets to 50s just before it and i think this is what stretched the con rod bolts thus leading to the engine failure a couple of runs later down the strip.

Ill see how the engine build comes together first then ill see about running the nitrous.

kev

17th February 2005, 09:51
To be fair kev, if the engine is mapped correctly and built to the correct spec there is no reason why you cant run nos.the only problem i encountered was stoping the heads lifting as it kept stretching the heav duty long stud kit that was fitted to the motor.

ill pop in to ur new place someday george and talk to u about it then dont want to take this of topic

I have received to date 7 applications, which include Neil and Michael.

There is a lot of time left yet, so dont assume you will be on the final list.

I am not assuming anything this year.

I will put my name down as a reserve.

The car will not be running any more power this year having decided against any futher modifications, and at best I think I can only make one more outing to Elvington before the actual event itself, so I won't be getting much more practice (sorely needed) either!!

A little update

http://www.stevend.org/uploads/TOTB4Applicants.xls

In order of receipt of application.

The season is now upon us, quite actively, and i will be asking all involved for periodic updates.

A couple of other people i need to contact to see if they want to be in the applicants list.

Pavlo (come on dood, you have the 2nd quickest scoob ffs)
DaveBlueRA
Oldfella (should have Chris Jones car)
John Banks (come on fella :D )
Harvey (Will the STi be ready by then?)

Now heres a little offer on my part

- Anyone who gets selected, that doesnt have a set of road legal slicks which would come in very usefull on the handling circuit, can borrow mine. They are Dunlop D01J's, 215/45/17.

Please also remember that this year, to my knowledge, the HC is restricted to 5 runs.

Steven

Paul@Zen
2nd April 2005, 09:06
I will most likely be putting my name down formally. As the car is still in one piece, and looks like it stands a chance of staying that way!

Will see you on the 10th at elvington.

I so want to run, but I've no idea if my car will be ready in time...so much work to be done and so little money left to spend on it :(

Steven
2nd April 2005, 12:37
Paul, if you need somewhere to stay so you can come up the night before the 10th, you can crash at mine.

Tim, i will try be as polite as i can, but take onboard what i write, i would say it to your face if you lived up here.

FFS get a grip of yourself. Stop wallowing in your self pity (i know you have had problems) and get your ar5e in gear and do something positive.

I know your trying to get a job, and good luck to you, but FFS do something with the spare time you have on your hands thats more productive than being a super searcher on Scoobynet or 22B ;) tongue.gif

You so wanted to run this time last year, but due to various problems you werent successfull, and here we are a year on in the same predicament.

Try and be positive with the car and yourself, if you need help, say so, i am sure you can finish it without spending much money.

Sorry, but i wont entertain an application by you, until i had positive proof it would be a done deal, sorry.

Sorry if that sounds harsh, but its the way i am with friends, I say what i think and see.

Steven

Tim,

How can you not have an idea if the car will be ready? It's in your hands, take control.

Paul

Andy.F
2nd April 2005, 14:46
Oops, just opened my dog box to find it in a bad way :(
It would appear that the missed shifts into 1st at highish speed split in two (radially) the output shaft main bearing which has allowed the whole gear train to walk and the diff pinion to crash into the front diff, this mashed up the cross gear spindles.
I assume from there the debris eventually caused the diff side bearing to fail which smashed the side casing allowing all the oil to fall out on the drag strip at crail ......at which stage I realised something definitely wasn't right !!

Looks like I need a full set of bearings, 3,4 and 5th gear sets, a casing (which I already have from Paul) and a set of selector rods.

Oh well, plenty time yet to do the gearbox, turbo, manifolds, intercooler etc etc  not.

Steven, no worries, there's no way I'd enter myself unless the car was running and run in!

As I've mentioned before I can't exactly wander out to the car at the moment as the wander is 70 miles...and everytime I've made the trip in recent months I've ended up helping out my family with field/barn clearing duties...but I have got a few bits here undergoing adjustment ;)

Redline TOTB 4 News update May 2005
www.totb.co.uk (http://www.totb.co.uk)

To all- Please pass onto your club/group members

We are now pleased to confirm the following clubs/groups will be competing at this year’s event;
The 200+ Club, GTR Register, Team Subaru, Mitsubishi Lancer Register, Vipers, GTO UK, 200SXOC, Skyline Owners Club, Hondas UK, UK Supras, GTIR-OC, RS Cosworth, RS Turbo, Performance Rover Group, FDUK, CCC UK, Fiat Coupes, IMOC MR2, Corvettes, GT4 OC. The event is now provisionally full for competing clubs; however we are still able to accept entries from individuals and Tuning companies. competitors@totb.co.uk

We have spaces available for both competitors and traders at our Scoobyshootout 2005 event to be held at Elvington on Sunday 22nd May. This is a 1/4m and top speed event, at just £45 to compete and £10 on the gate to spectate. The closing date for entry forms is 12th May. Forms for this and Redline TOTB 4 are available on our website. We would appreciate your assistance in inviting your club members to Scoobyshootout to run in a rwyb competition alongside the main event, class prizes and awards are available to non- Subaru vehicles.

We have now confirmed that the Jun Lemon and Top Secret Drag R Skylines will be making an appearance at Redline TOTB4 and Scoobyshootout. Both cars ran at a recent test day at Elvington, and both turned in10s 1/4m times, with lots more to come. The Top Secret car had not run before in the UK, yet managed an impressive 10.3s 136mph on its one and only full launch!

Trade areas are filling up nicely, with The Organisation looking after the trade and display areas on our behalf. All the competing clubs can now apply for a dedicated spectator display area for their cars on a first come basis.
To enquire about a trade display area, or to reserve a club display area contact
Claire Williams; claire.williams@the-organisation.org

Other event updates
Unfortunately due to potential noise problems and other issues on site we are not now able to offer general public camping as hoped, we are however still able to offer this facility to traders and competitors for the Saturday night, contact us if you require passes to do so.

We have now confirmed improved P.A, catering, serviced toilets and grandstand seating/raised terrace viewing on site for the event.

The competitor pitlane will be enlarged and changes made to improve the flow of cars through the pitlane. A separate area for fuel storage will be available to prevent fuel drums being stored in pitlane areas. The handling circuit will have an enlarged viewing area for spectators, to bring the action closer, and competitors will all be limited to a maximum of 5 timed runs during the day to ensure fairness to all.

Finally we’d like to remind people that Redline TOTB 4 spectator tickets are now on sale in advance from the totb website at a discounted price of just £15 per adult. (£20 on the day, kids under 16 free entry with parent/guardian)
Official Clubs and groups can take advantage of our special bulk offer to members on entry tickets at just £12.50 per person in advance, contact us for details.
Further news updates will be sent as we move closer to the event.
Bye for now
The TOTB Team

Steven Not sure if mine is worthy of the team. Its only running 427Bhp & 400Lb/ft @1.3 bar. Having clutch problems at the min and best 1/4 to date is 12.71 with the clutch pedal getting stuck goin up the strip(Santa Pod) Hoping for mid/high 11`s when clutch is sorted. And as for top speed im not sure what it will do. Only had it upto 145 whilst teaching a escort cossie a lesson
