Christian, competition insurance works differently.

My understanding is that you insure a 'value' with an excess, for example you can insure yourself for the event for 10000GBP with an excess of say 1500GBP, if you damage the car you can claim upto 10000 for the repairs, once you have paid the excess.

You are correct. What I meant by full comp is chassis/transmission cover, with fire damage and engine cover.

It will cost me 700 pounds for full cover for a day for a track day, and that is with 3500 excess.

Christian, standard cover does NOT include engine/transmission. You would have to pay extra for this, but it doesnt cost that much.

How much I stated above is how much I pay for when I do the sprints or any track day. This covers everything.
